I've had the photos taken for this post for what seems like months but
just haven’t got around to writing it up! I was so excited to see what Soap and
Glory would come up with when they had a few new releases recently but have to
say I wasn’t as blown away as I thought I would be and only picked up a few
things! Most of these aren’t even that new anymore but anyway here are my two
cents!
If you’ve read my posts on the Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer or
their brow product’s before you will know I love the brand and am a little
obsessed with their makeup! Along with another new brow product to add to my
ever growing collection, I picked up a few of their new Soap and Glory Sexy Mother Pucker Matte Lip in Pretty Muted and Berry Much (£3.50). Being a big fan of the original gloss sticks, I couldn’t wait
to try these matte versions at only £3.50! My lips get dry very quickly so I
wasn’t expecting too much but was pleasantly surprised at how comfortable and
non-drying these feel! They are super creamy and long lasting and I’m really
impressed! Pretty Muted was more pink than I was expecting as I thought it
would be more mauve in tone and Berry Much is purple not berry which was a
little disappointing for me but the formula is gorgeous! Pretty Muted wears off
so well too and doesn’t leave a line round my lips and I know I’ll get so much
wear out of this!
The Soap and Glory Brow Putty Dip Pot and Brush in Dark Chocolate (£10) is an innovative little product that comes with an
angled brush on one end and a screw pot on the other end with product in. Now, while
this is handy for on the go it is also a slight nuisance as the pot is so
narrow and both the casing and product are so dark it makes it difficult to see
what how much you are putting on the brush. There is also nowhere to take off excess
product without making a mess on the side of the screw cap so it ends up being my
hand that gets messy! Once you get over this the product inside is lovely,it’s a great colour for my brows and
very easily blended into my brows for a natural but defined look that is easily
buildable depending on how dark you want your brows!
Have you tried any of the newbies to the collection? I can’t wait for the
new lipsticks!
Another month another empties post! I wasn’t actually going to do this
for another few weeks but my box was overflowing so thought I’d go ahead and
post!
Bodycare
Eucerin Intensive Lotion
I talked about this in a products I’m loving post here as it is the
BEST thing for dry, itchy legs! I had random eczema patches on my legs a few
years ago and this was the only thing that helped so I like to have a bottle of
it to hand at all times! Already repurchased!
This shower cream featured in this post I did about the shower gels I currently have on rotation. Its creamy, moisturising and smells like cocoa!
Cocoa isn’t my favourite scent but I love Nivea shower gels and already have
another of their scents in my stash!
Cocoa Brown Tough Stuff 3 in 1 Body
Scrub
I haven’t had the best of luck with Cocoa Brown products unfortunately,
the first bottle of tan I bought had a aerosol type pump for the mousse tan and
broke off halfway through the bottle so I couldn’t finish it and this scrub I
won in a giveaway was really runny and didn’t lather up so I ended up using it
up very quickly! It’s pink in colour and I love the smell of it, it’s the same
as the tan with the Tahititan scent but I wouldn’t purchase it for myself as I
didn’t find it that effective.
Soap and Glory The Righteous Butter
This shows up quite a lot in my empties post as its one of my
favourite moisturisers. It’s rich, hydrating and dries in quickly. I love the
smell of it and it’s so handy that it comes in a tub as you don’t waste any of
the product when you are coming to the end of it! Already got a backup!
Skincare
Nuxe Gentle Toning Lotion for Face and Eyes
I bought this last year in this haul as I wanted a toner that was
alcohol free and so I wouldn’t go through my Glow Tonic so quickly. This is
rose scented but it didn’t irritate my skin and I ended up being really
impressed with it. It didn’t dry out my skin and I would definitely purchase
again in the future.
Soap and Glory Speed Plump All-Day Super
Moisture Marvel
I really liked this too even though I’m not the bniggest fan of Soap
and Glory skincare (much prefer their makeup and bodycare range) It’s light and
hydrating and sinks into the skin quickly leaving a nice base for makeup or
primer. I would definitely repurchase this again in the future and I want to
try the night time version too at some point!
Cult 51 Immediate Effects Serum and Night
Cream*
I don’t normally include sachets in my empties as I don’t get enough
uses out of them but I was sent 3 of these and they have lasted me ages as it’s
an eye serum. It’s a lovely light gel like serum and I have found since using
it nightly from around January the skin around my eyes is a lot smoother and I have
less white bumps under my eyes. I don’t have many wrinkles so can’t say much
for that and as it’s so expensive I won’t be repurchasing just yet but will
definitely keep it in mind for the future when I do need more help! The night
cream cropped up here and I love how it feels, it’s really hydrating, sinks in
quickly and makes my skin so soft. Unfortunately it's £125 for the full size so
I won’t be repurchasing but it was lovely while it lasted L
Emma Hardie Amazing Face Moringa
Cleansing Balm
I love this and talked about it in more detail here but basically it’s
the most luxurious cleanser ever and so effective at getting makeup off (including
eye makeup!) I already have a backup but I’m going to try to use a few others
up before opening!
Cowshed Lippy Cow Natural Lip Balm
I got this in a beauty box ages ago and while I love the orangey smell,
it wasn’t long lasting enough on my lips overnight so I wouldn’t
repurchase!
Caudalie Polyphenol Anti-Wrinkle Defense
Serum
This was a super tiny sample that again I got in a beauty box but I was
only able to get a few uses out of it. It was nice and light but I couldn’t see
any difference, I have a slightly larger sample from another beauty box I’m
using at the minute but doubt I would repurchase!
Haircare
VO5 Plump it Up Dry Shampoo
This is another regular feature in my empties, I love this stuff! I
have a more in-depth review here but basically it leaves no white cast, smells
lovely and is really affordable!
L’Oreal Elnett Satin Hairspray Extra Strength
I love having these size hairsprays and I think I got this in a beauty box
too. I prefer hairspray with hold so probably wouldn’t repurchase as I think
this is more of a finishing spray although it was lovely and lightweight and
brushed out easily!
Makeup
Rimmel Lasting Finish Skin Perfecting
Primer
I've written about this in another post here as I was so impressed with
it. It’s a white cream that really made my makeup sit better and last longer
and it’s so affordable. I will repurchase in the future but have too many
primers to go through at the minute so will be trying to make my way through them first!
NYX HD Concealer
I love this stuff and this is my second tube. It’s creamy, lightweight and
gives such good coverage! I already have a backup in the same colour which I
have started using but they seem to have changed their shade range so it’s much
more orange and I have to do a lot more blending which I’m a bit disappointed
with so will get the lighter shade next time!
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Blur and
Brighten Concealer
Another concealer I love! I use this under my eyes before I put on
foundation every day and it really brightens the area and offers good coverage!
I have already repurchased but it’s broke so I need to return it! That’s the
only bad thing about this concealer, if it gets dropped its very likely the
crayon will break off from the packaging! Not having much luck with concealers
at the minute!
Bourjois Volume Glamour Max Holidays
Waterproof Mascara
I got this in a free gift and I love it! It’s a drier formula than I usually
go for but it gives so much volume and separates my lashes really well! Already
have a backup!
Urban Decay De-Slick Makeup Setting
Spray
I was so disappointed with this as you will see in this post as I
usually love anything by Urban Decay! It did nothing to make my makeup last any
longer but I’ve since found another more affordable setting spray that I love
so I won’t be repurchasing this!
So there we have it, another empties! I can’t believe how quickly that
box filled up and this post is still ridiculously long despite me trying to do
them more often – sorry! Let me know what you thought of any of the products I
finished if you’ve tried them!
*denotes
a PR sample that was sent to me. All opinions are my own.
I have a little update post on my now finished small Z
palette of Makeup Geek eyeshadows! You can read my first post on the original
shadows I ordered here! Since then I've become a little obsessed reading
everyone’s collection posts and looking up swatches online! If you’ve read my
blog before you’ll maybe know I like a neutral brown eyeshadow (understatement
of the century.) So, it’s no surprise that what we have here are eight shadows
of varying degrees of brown neutralness and one creamy shimmer colour!
The first four shades I picked up were Taupe Notch,
Barcelona Beach, Mocha and Homecoming followed quickly by Hipster then Shimma
Shimma, Pretentious and Bada Bing. Latte was the elusive last shade that I
could not get my hands on as it was always out of stock. This of course made me
want it even more and now I have it it’s my least favourite shade! Just a touch
too warm toned for me unfortunately but I am trying to embrace warmer colours
so it does still get used!
Top - Shimma Shimma, Hipster, Taupe Notch, Middle - Homecoming, Pretentious, Barcelona Beach, Bottom - Latte, Mocha, Bada Bing
My most used shades are definitely Barcelona Beach or
Hipster all over the lid with Mocha in the crease for during the day then Bada
Bing on my lash line and Shimma Shimma as an inner corner highlight and lightly
on my brow bone. I love having the other shimmer colours as options for a
smokier eye but don’t tend to wear them on a day to day basis.
Sorry these photos are all different sizes, editing is not
my strong point and PicMonkey is so slow for me!
l-r - Shimma Shimma, Hipster, Taupe Notch
Make up Geek describes these as:
Shimma Shimma – metallic champagne
Hipster - dark sand
and light taupe tan with a slight shimmer
Taupe Notch - taupe (with shimmer)
l-r - Homecoming, Pretentious, Barcelona Beach
Homecoming – medium brown with gold shimmer
Pretentious – metallic bronze
Barcelona Beach – medium sand shade with a matte finish
l-r - Latte, Mocha, Bada Bing
Latte – matte medium brown
Mocha – deep matte brown
Bada Bing – deep brown with flecks of gold
I've also just got my hands on a few of the foiled
eyeshadows and oh my god they are so pigmented and buttery! I love how they fit
in the Z palette and can be easily moved about depending on what you want to
take with you if you are travelling. To make it perfect it should really have a
black shade but I have so many already I decided against ordering one just for
the sake of having a ‘complete’ palette.
The quality of these eyeshadows is right up there with my
Urban Decay and Too Faced which are my favourites! I’m so glad Beauty Bay stock
these as well as the contour shades and the blushes which I also have a couple
of! Have you got any shade recommendations for me?
Happy Easter everyone, hope you are all having a lovely time if you're off! I'm putting this up a little earlier than I usually would because of the Bank Holiday! I think it’s fair to say most of us here probably have a little too
much makeup (am I right or am I right?) and while I definitely do, I still have
products that I use way more than others so I thought I would share these today.
The first three products aren’t going to be a surprise to anyone who has stumbled
across my blog before as I feel like I mention them every other post! Sorry!
My favourite drugstore foundation, it has medium to full matte coverage
and has a great selection of colours for paler skinned girls. My favourite ways
to apply this are with my fingers or a damp beauty blender and it blends in
seamlessly giving me great coverage all day long. Revlon have recently brought
it out with a pump so I’m excited to give that a try though I stocked up on the
old bottles as they were half price for a while there so it could be a while
before I get my hands on one! More about it here!
Again I never stop banging on about this either (sorry!). It is the
best powder I’ve ever tried and while I usually have two or three powders on
the go (to stop my skin getting used to them) this one wins every time when I
know I need something that it going to mattify my skin, look undetectable and
help my foundation stay put all day! It’s so lightweight and long lasting, the
compact is nice and weighty with a big mirror and No7 always do £3 off vouchers
so it’s regularly on offer! Try it, you won’t regret it!
Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light
Another product I won’t spend too long talking about because you can
read my full thoughts here but this is the best concealer ever! Creamy, full
coverage and so handy to travel with as it has a mini powder compact and mirror, I couldn’t
be without this! The left hand side is perfect for covering dark circles and the
right hand side is great for concealing blemishes!
I think this was the first proper lipstick I ever bought on the
recommendation of Alix from I Covet Thee a few years ago! It’s a sheer coral number that is
light and glossy on the lips and just gives the most perfect colour to brighten
up your face! As you can tell by the size of the bullet left this is very well
loved by me! Although I’ve more recently got a few fancier lipsticks from Urban
Decay and MAC there is just something about this one that I always come back
to. I also have a backup even though it will probably take me another year to
finish what’s left of this one!
Hands down my favourite eyeshadow palette and it contains the only
eyeshadow I have ever hit pan on which considering the amount of palettes I
have, I never thought would happen! Quite obviously Frisk is my most used shade
and I usually take it all over the lid then put some Primal in the outer corner
and Undone along my lash line with Skimp on my brow bone! I get so much more
wear out of matte shades as I find them easier to work with and quicker to
apply especially in the mornings! I do really like the original Naked Basics
palette too but just slightly prefer the cooler tones of this one!
l-r Skimp, Stark, Frisk, Cover, Primal, Undone
Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
I remember the hype when this came out last year/two years ago (I can’t
even remember anymore) and I thought it looked amazing but no way was I paying £56 for a few blushers.
Fast-forward to more hype over the next limited edition offering of the ambient
lighting edit and I decided I didn’t want the tiny pans, highlighter, powder
and bronzer but I needed the blush palette. Thankfully John Lewis seemed to
have a few in stock and I spent the most money I ever have on a beauty product
and bought the blush palette (though it was PayPal money so that doesn’t really
count does it?). I was expecting a metal palette for some reason and was a
little disappointed in the size of the pans but the quality of these blushes is
beautiful. They are so soft, last all day and give the most gorgeous glow to
the skin. I originally thought Incandescent Electra would be my go to but it’s
actually my least favourite as I find it a bit too glittery for my liking. Mood
Exposure is lovely but Luminous Flush definitely comes out on top for me, it’s
so subtle but just makes me look so healthy and I think it’s impossible to go
over the top with these as they are so perfectly pigmented!
