Product Empties #45

product empties danielles beauty blog

I seem to be back on a roll with finishing my products so long may it continue! I would say something else like long time no see, but, I feel like every blog post I write recently says that so I am just accepting the sporadic inspiration to post!

bodycare empties dnaiellesbeautyblog

Bodycare

Vaseline Dry Skin Repair

Love this, smells to fresh and clean and moisturises my body well. I got a jumbo pack in Costco so I have another one to get through, but I will repurchase in the future as well!

Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum Cream

One of my faves! Smells amazing and makes my skin so soft and smooth! Already have a back up!

Lush Snow Fairy

A yearly treat to myself and this lasts a long time! I love the scent but I know it’s very sweet and sickly to others but I will repurchase at Christmas again!

Nivea Smooth Hands & Nail Care

Love this hand cream, very lightly scented and sinks in straight away leaving my hands smooth and hydrated! Will repurchase!

Haircare

TRESemme Volume Clean Dry Shampoo

Works really well to give me an extra day out of my hair on a budget! Already repurchased!

Living Proof Perfect Hair Day Dry Shampoo

Works really well to give me 2-3 days extra out of my hair! As well as volume and a bit more life. It’s a bit pricier but worth it in my opinion! Full review here! Already repurchased!

Bumble and Bumble Pret-a-Powder

Enjoyed this but a bit of a faff so I’ve had it for ages. Worked well to add some volume into my hair but I usually used it alongside a normal dry shampoo as it’s a powder and I didn’t want to put it on my main parting! Not a repurchase!

Skincare

CosRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner

Love this! Works well to smooth my skin but I use it mostly as a spray on the backs of my arms as it helps KP and makes my arms t-shirt ready for summer! Full review here! Will repurchase!

Nivea Express Eye Makeup Remover

A constant in my empties, this stuff is incredible at removing waterproof eye makeup and I can’t be without it! I have 4 backups in my stash as my mum recently came to visit and it’s a lot cheaper in the UK! Full review here! Forever repurchased!

EVY Daily Defence Face Mousse SPF 50

Really enjoyed this though I found it quite messy even when I rubbed it in my hands before spreading on my face like the brand said! I’ll forgive it though as it sinks in quickly, doesn’t dry out my skin and sits so well under makeup while protecting my skin! Will repurchase in the future!

Dr Jart Ceramidin Cream

Another long term fave! This is possibly my favourite moisturiser as it’s so nourishing and hydrating yet lightweight enough for during the day! It sits perfectly under makeup and is a staple in my skincare stash! Full review here! Already repurchased!

Laneige Cica Sleeping Mask

I was pleasantly surprised by this after initially finding it a bit boring/basic! It’s a lovely creamy overnight moisturiser that contains shea butter, squalane, panthenol and glycerin and it feels rich and soothing and nourishes my skin leaving it plump the next morning! Will repurchase when I finish a few other overnight moisturisers!

Biotherm Cera Repair Barrier Cream*

Loved this for daytime use as it sat so well under makeup. It contains Biotherm’s famous life plankton to trigger skin’s self-regeneration as well as bioceramides to strengthen and repair the skins barrier. My skin felt soft and soothed and even though it feels like a thick formula it sinks in straight away and I found I wasn’t getting flaky around my nose by midday like with some other moisturisers! The only negative for me was that I went through it so quickly as this was a 30ml and it’s on the pricier side! Would repurchase on offer!

Murad Nutrient Charged Water Gel*

Another great moisturiser, this one feels more lightweight so I saved it for summer! It’s made up of vitamins and minerals (silicon, iron, zinc, copper and magnesium) and peptides to smooth skin, reduce the appearance of fine lines, improve tone and texture and restore the skins barrier. A little goes a long way with this one and like it promises, my skin feels and looks plump, smooth and hydrated, fine lines are less visible and it provides a lovely base for makeup, working well with any SPF I put over top! Full review here! Would repurchase on offer!

NIOD Survival 0*

This one needs no introduction and I have featured it a few times on the blog over the years! It’s an antioxidant, reparative serum targeting damage caused by environmental stressors like pollution, smog and blue light. The formula is lightweight, and it’s an orange-y colour that absorbs easily and has a faint herbal scent (I use at night). Overtime, this reduces photo damage and I have noticed my skin tone is healthier overall. It also feels hydrating (includes glycerin and squalane) and layers well with other skincare! Already have a back up! Full review here!

Theramid Derma-Peptides*

A trio of Niche Beauty Lab must haves next, starting with the Derma-Peptides! This is a multi-peptide serum containing a mix of Matrixyl’s and bio peptides to improve visual signs of aging, boost collagen and elastin, reduce fine lines and encourage smoother looking skin. The results are subtle but very much worth adding to your routine, I think peptides are so underrated! My skin feels smooth and supported with consistent use! Would repurchase!

Theramid Ceramide Treatment*

My go to on retinal nights as this contains ceramide, ectoin and cica and keeps my barrier supported! It’s a thick serum that feels more like a lightweight moisturiser and it works so well to keep my skin hydrated and protected. I absolutely love this product, and if you ever suffer from a compromised skin barrier, it's a must-have.

Transparent Lab Protect + Correct Serum*

This is an antioxidant serum containing Vitamin A, C, E, Ferulic Acid and Resveratrol. It aims to improve the overall appearance of the skin while helping to prevent the appearance of new wrinkles. I am a big fan of antioxidants and while you can’t always see their effects straight away, I am confident they are working in the background and protecting my skin! With consistent use my skin looks and feels more even! Would repurchase! Full review of all three products plus one I haven’t finished yet here!

Tatcha The Dewy Skin Cream

This was a lovely creamy moisturiser I used during the day as it sank in so well and didn’t cause pilling with my SPF. I find Tatcha on the pricy side so not a repurchase for me but I do have another mini of this to enjoy!

Barry M Bubblegum Lip Scrub

Loved this! I am gutted as I think they have discontinued their lip scrubs or at least in the flavours I liked but this was so affordable and “scrubby” yet gentle so perfect for me to exfoliate my lips with every day! Would repurchase!

Institute Esthederm Intensive Hyaluronic

Nice but such a tiny sample I can’t say much! Not a repurchase!

Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer

This is the second one of these I have been through and I love it! So hydrating and smoothing on my lips, leaving them glossy and nourished for a long time. Will repurchase!

Burt’s Bees Lip Balm

My go to affordable lip balm! Hydrated and smoothing and so handy to have in my pocket or bag! Already repurchased!

Clarins Lip Oil in Honey

Love this, so glossy and hydrating! I have found it’s not as long lasting on my lips in Canada as it’s so dry where I live compared to when I first tried it at home but I still love it even though I have to reapply more often! Would repurchase but I already have a full size to get through! Full review here!

Dr Dennis Gross Universal Daily Peel

Love these! So smoothing yet hydrating and they really help even my skin tone and make it look more radiant! Again, a little pricey so not a repurchase for me when I have other products that do a similar job but I love when I get these as samples!

My favourite drugstore foundation! Full coverage and long lasting, I have a full review here! Already repurchased!

Affordable and effective, I love these for helping my joints and I hope they make my skin look better too!

Skincare | Niche Beauty Lab Review ft. Theramid and Transparent Lab

niche beauty lab review theramid transparent lab

Last year I was sent a few products from Niche Beauty Lab, a Spanish company with a science-skin approach – they develop the products in their own lab and bring them straight to the customer. Products are formulated with innovative active ingredients and Niche Beauty Lab is a bit of an umbrella for the five brands they produce - Theramid and Transparent Labs (which I will talk about today), Acnemy, Hyalulip and Hairvest. I received two products from each Theramid and Transparent Labs and since all four are now almost finished, I thought it was about time I did a review!

niche beauty wirth the hype? theramid tranparent lab

Theramid is the pricier of the two brands and the most eye-catching with its very aesthetic colour coded glass bottles! I’ve already talked about the Ceramide Treatment RRP £32* a couple of times on the blog, most recently in my Best Beauty Discoveries of 2022. Containing ceramide, ectoin and cica this has been my go-to on nights I’ve been using retinol to keep my barrier supported! It’s a thick serum that feels more like a lightweight moisturiser and it works so well to keep my skin hydrated and protected. As the serum is so thick, I struggled to pump it out once I got about halfway through so I just unscrew it and use a cosmetic spatula which works fine. Nonetheless, I absolutely love this product, and if you ever suffer from a compromised skin barrier, it's a must-have.

Next up from Theramid is the Derma-Peptides RRP £30*, a multi-peptide serum containing a mix of Matrixyl’s and bio peptides to improve visual signs of aging, boost collagen and elastin, reduce fine lines and encourage smoother looking skin. This is a much thinner consistency than the Ceramide treatment and while the results are subtle, this is another serum worth having in your stash! My skin feels smooth and supported with consistent use!

theramid and transparent lab review

Moving onto Transparent Lab now and this is the more affordable range, think Deciem and NIOD/The Ordinary. I have the PIH Sun Spot Fading Treatment RRP £15*, a serum for hyperpigmentation due to scarring, hormonal episodes and exposure to the sun. It’s a gel formula and contains a powerhouse of brightening ingredients including tranexamic acid, azeloglicina, niacinamide, kojic acid and lumina granatum and works a treat on scarring from spots. I had a small break out about a month ago and once it started healing, I really ramped up my usage of this product and the scar went from bright red to faded within a matter of a couple of weeks. The fading has slowed now but it’s much less noticeable and I’m confident I won’t even notice it in a few more weeks, it’s so impressive!

Finally, I have the Protect + Correct Serum RRP £17* an antioxidant serum containing Vitamin A, C, E, Ferulic Acid and Resveratrol. This aims to improve the overall appearance of the skin while helping to prevent the appearance of new wrinkles. I am a big fan of antioxidants and while you can’t always see their effects straight away, I am confident they are working in the background and protecting my skin! With consistent use my skin looks and feels more even and both this and the Derma-Peptides fit easily into either my AM or PM routine as they both contain glycerin so I use them to hydrate aswell. The only negative is that the pipette on this doesn’t work the best unfortunately as the serum is a thicker consistency!

niche beauty lab review

Overall, I can’t recommend these products enough! All the serums work well with my other products and don’t cause pilling. The products are designed with innovative active ingredients and are formulated to target a range of skin concerns. Whether you're looking to support your skin barrier or fade hyperpigmentation, Niche Beauty Lab's range of products has you covered!

Best Beauty Discoveries 2022 | Skincare

Happy New Year! I have a quick little series on my best beauty discoveries from last year coming so will get makeup and haircare up soon but first, my skincare picks! I usually also have body care but I didn’t try many new things this year so my old favourites are the same! As always, these aren’t necessarily all new releases but they were new to me this year!

2022 best skincare

Starting with cleansers, and I have really been enjoying the Dear Klairs Gentle Black Deep Cleansing Oil RRP $30 as a first cleanse. It spreads easily, removes makeup with ease, emulsifies, doesn’t sting my eyes and is affordable! I don’t get any scent from it and it leaves my skin feeling clean and hydrated with no film left behind! For my second cleanse or morning cleanse, I have been reaching for the Murad AHA/BHA Exfoliating Cleanser RRP £43*. This one lightly lathers and feels gentle despite containing physical as well as chemical exfoliants and has really been helping to keep my skin smooth and give me a good base for the rest of my skincare and makeup application!

charlotte tilbury glow toner review

Toner wise, the Charlotte Tilbury Glow Toner RRP £40* really stood out to me. It’s a lovely, thick, milky formula that my skin has been drinking up! It is acid free and contains niacinamide, hyaluronic acid, peptides and ingredients to exfoliate and help minimise the look of pores. My skin looks smooth and plump while using this and it’s definitely made me want to try more CT skincare! See more in my Summer Standouts post here!

Moving onto serums and the Bondi Sands Skincare Thirsty Skin Hyaluronic Acid RRP £8.99* was my favourite HA this year. It’s a gel formula so a little thicker than a standard serum and it spreads easily over my skin leaving it feeling soft and supple, locking in moisture and plumping and filling out my fine lines! As well as HA, it also contains glycerin and it has a great price and cute packaging, definitely one to try! See my full review here!

I’ve also really enjoyed the COSRX Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence RRP £24 for hydration as well. Since moving back to Canada that’s been top of my skincare needs list! This has an interesting texture that looks like it’s going to be sticky but it’s not at all. While I wouldn’t quite put it into the cult status as a lot of people have, it is a great hydrator and smoother and I have really appreciated having it in my routine this winter!

The Theramid Ceramide Treatment RRP $52* is a thick serum that contains ceramides, antioxidants, cica and glycerin and has been a perfect buffer for me under retinol keeping my skin hydrated and protected! It provides extra comfort to my skin in winter and I am so impressed with this brand, I will do a full review on the products I was sent soon but this one is the standout!

The Murad Vita-C Glycolic Brightening Serum RRP £82* is probably my favourite skincare find of this year! Initially, I was worried about the addition of glycolic acid in case it caused irritation but I’m happy to say it hasn’t. This is a powerhouse antioxidant serum and after struggling with Vitamin C formulas that help brighten but don’t do much for specific areas of pigmentation, this worked better than I thought possible. The inclusion of glycolic acid gently exfoliates, making my skin smoother and helping ensure effective Vitamin C delivery. The Vitamin C in question is L-ascorbic acid, known for being the most effective as well! The serum itself has a light citrus scent and absorbs quickly and I have noticed stubborn pigmentation really lifting with consistent use! My skin is also much brighter and more even and despite being the priciest of the items I am featuring today it really has made a difference and my first bottle lasted months, so I think it’s worth the investment! Read more here!

Onto moisturisers and The Inkey List Omega Water Cream RRP $14.49* was my summer moisturiser of choice! It’s a lightweight, water-based gel that contains three omegas to help prevent water loss as well as glycerin and niacinamide. It sinks in quickly leaving no white residue behind (I’m looking at you Vitmain B, C and E moisturiser), works well under makeup and my skin feels hydrated all day long. Definitely the best moisturiser The Inkey List do! Read moreabout it here!

Something a bit heavier now and the Murad Intense Recovery Cream RRP £78* is my nightly moisturiser of choice this year! It is the ultimate comfort blanket for stressed out, dehydrated, sensitive skin and contains shea better, macadamia oil and microalgae extract to provide deep moisturisation and smooth the look of stress lines as well as reducing redness and irritation. My skin was really playing up at the start of last year and was red, inflamed, itchy and flaky and this came to the rescue! It feels instantly soothing on stressed skin and is so comforting! It reduced my redness as well as hydrating my skin and getting it back to normal. It feels like more of a balm than a cream and it melts into skin keeping it hydrated and protected overnight, a must have for sensitive skin!

Finally, my favourite SPF of last year was the Murad City Skin Age Defense Broad Spectrum SPF 50 RRP £66*. This is a mineral sunscreen that shields against UVA, UVB, pollution and digital blue light damage. The formula is lightweight and has a peachy tint that is easily worked into the skin leaving no white cast (I have pale skin for reference). It sits well over the rest of my skincare as well as under makeup and I love that its SPF 50, my skin feels protected and the formula is beautiful, I haven’t found any difficulty rubbing in or pilling issues either! Read more here!

So that brings us to the end of my best skincare discoveries of this year! Did you see any of your favoruites? Let me know what products you loved this year!
