Morning all! I was having a nosy through my mums makeup the other day and thought I would do an updated version of this post from a few years ago (based on one Jasmine did)! Not much has changed but here’s a little look into a fifty somethings makeup bag!
Like myself, my mum’s two favourite foundations are Estee Lauder Double Wear in Desert Beige and Revlon Colourstay Combination/Oily in Sand Beige. She has been reaching for the Colourstay more often these days as she’s not going too far and its obviously more affordable than the EL. Both are long lasting, full coverage and staples in both our makeup bags! When I discovered theLaura Mercier Translucent loose setting powdera few years ago I told my mum about it and lo and behold she bought a pot and loves it too! Its mattifying without being cakey and even though its expensive, a pot lasts a long time!
Her bronzer which you can see is well loved it a cast off from me from longer ago than I care to remember! It’s the Loreal Glam Bronze in 06 Golden Bronzewhich seems to be discontinued (my mum said typical when I told her this which we will get to in a minute) or renamed as Back to Bronze now! She likes it as it’s not too in your face and the light shade means she can build it up! I’m one part impressed one part embarrassed my mum is still using this miniNARS Orgasm blush, she likes a project empty more than me! This is another hand me down from me as I already have the shade and while my mum said she likes the colour she found it too sparkly so it’s not going to be one she repurchases! She also uses anEstee Lauder compactshe got as a GWP (shades are Signature Silky Powder Bush Nude Rose 11, Bronze Goddess Soft Matte bronzer 01 and Signature Shimmer powder Gold Pearl 01). Clearly the matte blush and bronzer shade are more loved than the shimmer but she says she mixes these as a blush.
The NYX Retractable waterproof eye liner in Grey is the best eye liner my mum has found in recent years as it doesn’t smudge and stays put all day and as luck would have it NYX seem to have discontinued it! My mum currently has five backups as she noticed it was out of stock everywhere but the NYX website and I just went to see if I could link it and it’s not there anymore! She is not impressed! For her brows she usesGimme Brow in shade 1as it’s so quick and easy and she’s just asked me to get her a new one for Christmas too! Although she has tried the Charlotte Tilbury lip cheat in Pillowtalk she find she goes through it too quickly for what it’s worth so she is back to theNo7 Precision Lips pencil in Nudeas its much more affordable and does the job!Bobbi Brown lip colour in Brownhas been my mums signature lipstick for as long as I can remember and the only one she used until I sent her a mini MAC Velvet Teddyfor Christmas one year! The MAC is more matte but both last well and are similar shades, classic nudes!
With the amount of pan going on in this picture I asked what back-ups she has and similarly to last time we have Benefit Hoola Bronzeras well as NYX Blush in Mauve (another recommendation from moi and another one that is discontinued and she bought back ups of lol).
Like last time there is no primer, concealer, highlighter, eyeshadow or mascara here because my mum doesn’t use them! She wears glasses and gets her lashes tinted so just misses the mascara step and doesn’t see the point in the others! Do you recognise any of these products from your makeup bag? What do you do when your favourite makeup products get discontinued?

I’ve been
wanting to do a post like this for ages and the idea came from a post Jasmine
did with her mum ages ago but I finally got my mum talked into telling me why
she likes certain items of makeup and you might see a few familiar products
here because a few are firm favourites of mine too! Her response to why she uses
these products was mostly “it’s nice and I like it” so I’ve tried to expand a
little more on that but it’s safe to say she won’t be starting her own blog!
My mum
is a bit like me in that she won’t leave the house without her “face” on but
not like me in that she wants to try every new makeup product that’s released!
Some of these are new to her but a lot of them are tried and tested old
favourites and she really only spends money on makeup when it comes to
foundation and lipstick, everything else is more on the drugstore side of
things!
No7 Perfect Light Translucent loose powderis my mums go to powder and you might know that the
pressed version is my favourite too so you can see a pattern forming! She says
this helps keep her makeup in place though she will usually top up her T zone
when she’s home at lunchtime which is normal for her with her skin type.
My
aunt recently gave my mum the end of herBenefit Hoolabronzer which she has really been enjoying. She says this
gives a nice shade of bronze to her skin and I also gave her one of my minis to
use up as she really likes it!
For
blusher, she has been using the No7 Perfectly Bronzed Mozaic Bronzer for years and you can see there are quite
a lot of bronze tones here too! The one in the main photo is actually one I got
in a set and gave to my mum because I found it a bit much for my skin. She
already has a backup ready to go and you can see she really likes to use the
last of the product up – something I could learn from!
The NYX Eye and Eyebrow Pencil in Charcoal is
a recent buy for my mum. She wears eyeliner everyday but finds black shades too
harsh so always goes for a grey. This is easily put on and doesn’t drag though
she does experience some smudging like she does with all eyeliner because she
has watery eyes.
Another
No7 product she is a fan of is thePrecision Lips Pencil in Nudewhich keeps her lipstick from bleeding.
She only outlines her lips and doesn’t fill them in with the lip liner as she doesn’t
want to change the colour of her lipstick. I’m the opposite and always fill my
whole lip in!
Bobbi Brown Lip Colour in Brownis the only lipstick she owns (!), I
usually buy her one for Christmas but she probably goes through about two of
these a year. She likes the colour and the formula and when she gets to the end
she digs it out with a cotton bud to make sure she gets every last bit!
Benefit Gimme Brow Volumising Brow Gel in the shade 1is another newish addition to my mum’s
routine. This is a mini from a magazine but my mum loves it and I bought her
the full size for Christmas. She says it gives her eyebrows a bit of shape and
colour which she needs as she is blonde so this is easy and quick for her.
You’ll
notice there is no primer, concealer, highlighter, eyeshadow or mascara here
because my mum doesn’t use them! She is a glasses wearer with really curly
lashes so just misses the mascara step and doesn’t see the point in the others!
How am I related to her?
Also
the makeup bag is just a Estee Lauder one she uses if she’s going on holiday, a bit
like me, her makeup lives on her dressing table or in some drawers she has! Hope
you enjoyed that post and a look into someone else's makeup collection! Do you
have any of the same products as my mum?

Hi everyone, I have another bumper empties post to share with you today!
Will try to get through the products as quickly as possible!
Haircare
VO5 Plump it Up Dry Shampoo
This is my favourite dry shampoo in the world! It smells amazing and
there is no white cast! I do already have a backup that I’m using but it’s my
last one as it seems to have disappeared from the shops again – sort it out
VO5!
Makeup
No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder in
Translucent
I won’t bang on too much about this as it crops up a lot on here but
it’s my absolute favourite powder as it’s so lightweight and mattifying without
looking cakey! Already have two backups of this!
Max Factor Lipfinity Top Coat (Clear Balm)
I got this as part of a Lipfinity set but got rid of the first step
colour ages ago because I didn’t like it! I love the clear balm though! It has
a slanted tip in slim black packaging and it feels nice and hydrating and lasts
a long time on my lips. It’s not too glossy and is perfect to put over matte
lipsticks to keep the colour but make them feel a bit more comfortable! Won’t
be repurchasing as my house is coming down with lip balms and I probably won’t
in the future because the other half of the set is wasted on me!
Beauty Blender
This should maybe be in the miscellaneous section but it’s a big part
of my makeup so I thought I’d include it here! Before I got this I was using
the Real Techniques Miracle Sponge or my fingers to apply my foundation but
this is so much better! It applies my foundation flawlessly and blends it so
easily. This one is looking worse for wear now but lasted me ages and was well
worth the money! I think the RT version is good if you don’t want to spend so
much on a Beauty Blender but I prefer it and already have my backup out and in
use!
Skincare
Nivea Lotion
I won’t spend too much time on this because you are all probably sick
of hearing about it by now but it’s my favourite first cleanse as it’s so
creamy and hydrating and does a fantastic job of removing the bulk of my
makeup! Constant repurchase and I already have a backup open!
Eucerin Aquporin Active Revitalising Eye
Cream*
I’m so sad to be finished this! It’s a gorgeous lightweight gel/creme
texture with a metal tip applicator that instantly depuffs my eye bags and
makes me feel more awake! Will be repurchasing as soon as I finish the eye
creams I’m currently using! Full review here!
Oskia Renaissance 360 Anti-Aging and
Brightening Supreme Cream
This was a deluxe sample I got in a GWP at Cult Beauty and I really
liked it (although I wasn’t fussed on the scent), it was lightweight, hydrating
and sank in quickly ready for me to apply my makeup. It ran out a bit
unexpectedly so I can see now why people get annoyed at the cleanser as you can’t
see how much product is left and the bottle is weighty! I don’t think I used it
long enough to see any noticeable difference in my skin and it’s a little
expensive for me to commit to repurchasing!
Maple Holistics Vitamin C Anti-Aging
Serum*
I really enjoyed using up this serum and found it helped add more
hydration to my face especially round my nose and chin area. I loved the
texture of it too, it felt quite slippy yet sank in quickly. I probably won’t
repurchase as it’s more difficult to get your hands on in the UK and I’m
already using other products with hyaluronic acid but if it’s easier to get a
hold of for you I really recommend it! Full review here!
Caudalie Polyphenol Anti-Wrinkle Defence Serum
This little dropper bottle actually lasted me quite a
long time and I really liked it! It was very lightweight and sank in quickly
leaving my face feeling hydrated and refreshed! Would repurchase!
Soap and Glory Off Your Face wipes
I much prefer Soap and Glory makeup and bodycare to some of their
skincare, these wipes being a prime example! I used these exclusively for
wiping makeup swatches off my arms after taking photos for my blog as I hate
the smell of them – it reminds me a little of toilet cleaner? I’ve had them for
so long they started to dry up a little but that’s more my fault than the
wipes! Will not be repurchasing and I probably got them in a set rather than
purchasing them on their own in the first place! This is also probably the only
negative review of a Soap and Glory product you will see on my blog and I
generally love everything else!
Nivea Daily Essentials 3 in 1 Facial
Cleansing wipes
I bought these at the airport for a trip to Amsterdam ages ago and they
came in so handy for a quick cleanse while I was away. I’m not a massive user
of wipes so they generally take me ages to finish but these stayed moist the
whole time I had them and had a lovely scent! Would definitely repurchase for
another trip away!
Skyn Iceland Hydro Cool Firming Eye Gels
I think I got these in a beauty box quite a while back and finally got
round to using them after an awful day with hay fever where my eyes were
standing on me and I couldn’t stop rubbing them! These felt so cooling and
relaxing and were really easy to apply. I had no issues with them sliding down
my face or anything, in fact they were stuck nearly a little too tight to my
bags and I had to move them a little further down to make them more comfortable
makes sense? Overall, a nice treat but I find one use things like these such a
waste of money so wouldn’t repurchase!
Eve Lom Cleanser
Again, I don’t normally put sachet samples in my empties as I don’t get
too many uses out of them but as this is such a hyped product I thought I would
include it! I got about three evening cleanses out of this as to be honest I
don’t see what the fuss is about, it did a good job of cleansing my skin but it
doesn’t smell great (I read someone ages ago describing it like old curry and I
have to agree!) and it would be too harsh for me to use every night as it has
little exfoliating particles in it! Wouldn’t repurchase it and will be sticking
to my other balm cleansers like Emma Hardie Moringa!
Bodycare
Nivea Powerfruit Fresh Shower Gel
I am obsessed with the acai berry scent of this! It’s obviously not
your average Nivea creme scent that I love but it’s amazing, it’s so fresh and
not overly fruity! You need to pick this up and give it a sniff! Will
definitely repurchase!
Nivea Sun Moisturising After Sun Lotion
I bought this a few weeks ago to take on holiday and literally finished
it yesterday so it has snuck into this already overloaded post! It’s not my
favourite Nivea product by a long shot as it doesn’t have the usual scent that
I love but it felt lovely and cooling on the few patches of sunburn I managed
to get on holiday (and felt even better as I had kept it in the fridge!) It
didn’t manage to help with the prickly heat I got on holiday though so I would
probably try something else next time!
Soap and Glory Hand Food Hand Wash
I got this in the Christmas sale along with the big hand cream pump
which it still full because I keep forgetting about it in the kitchen! I love
the scent of this but probably won’t get it again to Christmas time!
Yes to Carrots Moisturising Hand Cream
for Normal to Dry Skin
I absolutely hated this! I was determined to finish it though and I’m
so glad I did! It’s a really runny cream that makes my hands somehow feel more
dry and while it doesn’t have a strong scent, it doesn’t have a good scent!
Worst hand cream I’ve ever tried, will definitely not be repurchasing!
Ladival Sun Protection SPF 30
I got this quite recently in the Latest in Beauty Glamour Summer Edit beauty box (what a mouthful!) and it was the perfect size for a week away! It’s
not my favourite sun lotion as I found it never really sank or dried in even
though it was meant to be non-greasy. I also found the spray quite messy so
sprayed in into my hand to apply instead of directly on the skin. For those
reasons I wouldn’t repurchase, however, it did offer great protection from the
sun and kept me from getting burnt so if you can get past the tacky/sticky
feeling it might be one for you! Full review here!
Nivea Creme Tin*
I love this little tin of Nivea creme! The texture is so different to
anything I’ve tried before, at first it reminds me of Sudocrem but once you
start rubbing it in it goes a little more watery. It’s hard to explain but I
love this for the back of my arms and find it really helps with any Keratosis
Pilaris I have although I usually only apply it at night as it doesn’t sink in
quickly! I got sent two of these so have already opened the second! Full review here!
Nivea Sun SPF 30 Caring Roll On*
Another product that featured in my Poolside Essentials post a few weeks ago,
this was a life saver down by the pool! I used it to reapply on areas where I
felt the lotion I had applied before coming down was starting to sweat or rub
off so my feet and round my bikini were replied regularly with this! It smells
amazing, sank in quickly and kept my skin protected! Would repurchase!
DNKY Be Delicious Body Lotion
I love layering up this body lotion with the perfume and it lasts all
day on me! It’s quite a creamy, runny consistency that’s lovely and
moisturising! Be Delicious is such a fresh scent, I wear it all year round but
it’s perfect for summer! I don’t have a backup of this but I will definitely
buy it again in the future (usually get it in gift sets!)
Sure Maximum Protection Anti-Perspirant
I don’t think I’ve actually ever included an anti-perspirant/deodorant
in my empties before but I finished this just before I was taking photos so
threw it in! This is a constant repurchase for me and I actually use it at night
more than during the day. The instructions say it’s more of a treatment and
works best if you apply at night then I’ll just use a standard deodorant during
the day. It helps protect against armpit sweat and I’d say it does a pretty
good job so may be one for you if you are a Sweaty Betty like me!
Prismologie Pink O’ Clock Hand Cream and
Indigo Interlude Foot Cream
I got these minis with a Space NK order a while back and really enjoyed
using them! They are very strongly perfumed and I particularly liked the scent
of the foot cream which has quite an aftershave scent to it! Both were lovely
and hydrating and sank in quickly but I probably won’t purchase the full sizes
because I have other hand and foot creams that do the same job and are much more
affordable!
Misc
Lush Magic Wand Reusable Bubble Bar
I got this in a Christmas gift set and couldn’t believe how many baths
it lasted me – it was originally in the shape of a pink star! I generally find
Lush overpriced and refuse to buy anything unless it’s in the sale or in a gift
set but this I would repurchase tomorrow! You just wave it under a running
tap and it creates so many bubbles and is scented of Snow Fairy! My skin always
felt so soft after having a bath with this too! It’s limited edition at
Christmas but they do a flamingo one all year round!
Congratulations if you made it to the end of that! See my last empties
post here!Have you tried any of these products? What did you think of them?
*denotes
a PR sample that was sent to me. All opinions are my own.
Hi everyone, today I’m back with another empties post and
hopefully a shorter one than my usual essays when I do these posts!
Body Care
Nivea Creme Care
Shower Cream
I picked this up on offer in Boots for £1 a while back and
really enjoyed using it and changing it up from my usual choice of Soap and
Glory! It featured in this post and is a lovely creamy shower cream that
lathered up well and didn’t dry out my skin. Would buy again!
Soap and Glory Butter
Yourself Moisture Lotion
First off I hate the packaging of this! The pump is missing from
mine as after using about a quarter of the product inside it becomes useless
and isn’t able to pump anymore. I think because the cream is so thick it just
stops working but I either have to squeeze this into an empty tub or leave it
sitting upside down so the product moves closer to the opening! It’s not my
favourite Soap and Glory scent but it is a lovely moisturiser when you can get
it out! I have a few of these to use up from sets I’ve got but it’s not my first
choice when purchasing a moisturiser!
Balance Me Super
Toning Body Polish
I hated the smell of this and I didn’t think it was a great
exfoliator as it didn’t lather up well. I think I received this in a beauty box
last year but I wouldn’t repurchase!
Sai-Sei Mineral
Invigorate Body Scrub
I probably shouldn’t even have bothered including this as
the sample was so small but I think I got this free with an order! The sample
did about one scrub but it smelt lovely and refreshing however I wouldn’t repurchase
as the full size is £28 and there are other much cheaper exfoliators I prefer!
Skincare
Pixi Glow Tonic
I love this stuff! It featured in this post but in a
nutshell it tones, smoothes and refines my acne prone skin and helps with my scarring!
This bottle has lasted me ages as I only
use a tiny bit and I usually only use this either morning or night. I already
have a backup of this and can see myself repurchasing it again and again!
Nivea Lotion
This has featured a few times in my empties posts and this post as it is a constant repurchase of mine! I love to use this as my first cleanse
as it’s so gentle and really effective at removing a lot of my makeup!
First Aid Beauty Face
Cleanser
This wasn’t what I was expecting to begin with and I didn’t
like it at first but I didn't mind it once I got used to it! It’s described as
an airy cream on the back of the packaging and I would agree with this as its
quite creamy and light. I used it as a second cleanse and then wiped off with a
muslin cloth and it did a good job at removing the last traces of my makeup but
I have other balm cleansers I prefer so won't be repurchasing.
Balance Me Cleanse
and Smooth Face Balm
This is a cleanser with oatmeal particles and I found for
everyday use, this was a little too much for my skin. I did feel like I got a
good exfoliation using this, especially round my nose but again I have other
face exfoliators I own that I prefer so I won’t be repurchasing!
Hair Care
L’Oreal Ever Strong
Conditioner
I love this! It made my hair so soft, the bottle lasted ages
and the scent is really minty and fresh! I will definitely repurchase this soon
as I have a full bottle of the shampoo and its one of the best conditioners I've
ever ueed!
Garnier Ultimate
Blends 1 Minute Treatment
I really liked this, again it made my hair feel soft and I
like that it's a quick one minute treatment although I sometimes just used it
as a conditioner. I did a full post on the Garnier Ultimate Blends range here
and this product along with the serum are definitely my favourites. The smell isn’t
too overpowering and it’s on offer a lot so I will probably repurchase at some
point in the future!
Makeup
Rimmel Lasting Finish
25Hour Powder Foundation
I seemed to have run out of all my powders at once starting
with this one! This was a powder I was impressed with for lasting power although
I didn’t test it out for the full 25 hours! The only powder I ever hear raved
about from Rimmel is their Stay Matte powder and I did go through a few of
these back in the day but I hated it! I can’t even remember why but I would not
pick it up again so when I saw this come out I was excited to give it a go! It
lasted well and controlled my oil and I will probably repurchase in the future
again!
Soap and Glory One
Heck of a Blot Powder
This used to be one of my favourites but I found towards the
start of December it wasn’t working as well for me and I would have to touch up
at lunchtime. I think this works best for me when it’s spring and autumn as
opposed to winter and summer or the extremes of the seasons if that makes sense!
I have already repurchased because it’s a lovely lightweight powder that doesn’t
look cakey but will wait a while before using!
No7 Perfect Light
Pressed Powder
This is my favourite powder and one I don’t have to touch up
at all through the day! I raved about it in this post and in a nutshell, if you
have oily skin you need to try this!
Maybelline Lash
Sensational Waterproof Mascara
This was probably the most hyped mascara of 2015! I jumped
on the bandwagon as Maybelline do some of my favourite mascaras including Colossal
and Falsies but this did not knock them off their pedestal! While it did give
me length and volume I hated how messy the opening/lid became and it was a
little more clumpy than I like! Still a good mascara but I have others I prefer
so probably won’t repurchase!
So that’s rounds up another empties! Thanks for reading! I’d
love to know if you’ve tried any of the products I’ve mentioned and what you thought!
P.S. Off topic but if I still have your attention and you’re any good at the
technical blog stuff maybe you’d be able to help me! Any idea why my LinkWithin widget isn’t
working at the bottom of my blog posts for related content? I reinstalled after getting my new blog template in December and its in my layout but doesn't show up anything on my blog! Any input would be
much appreciated J
I thought today I would share my favourite makeup brushes! These
are the ones I use every day and some of them I have doubles for because I love
them so much!
Some powder brushes I've used in the past are massive and
while I like my powder, I sometimes feel a little like they make my makeup look
a little cakey! This one is a great size and works perfectly to spread my
powder evenly over my face! I got it in the Zoeva Rose Golden set which is
expensive to fork out for but the quality of the brushes is amazing so it’s
definitely worth it!
I never used to use this one until maybe the start of the
year when I realised my powder brush wasn't great at reaching under my eyes and
my concealer was creasing a little. This brush solves that problem for me! I sometimes
use a different powder to the one I use all over my face such as a banana
coloured powder to help brighten this area and it works so well, I couldn’t be
without this one now!
No7 brushes are seriously underrated! This is actually the
third incarnation of this brush I have gone through. It was in the first brush
set I ever got years ago in a No7 Christmas set and I used it for blusher until
replacing it when it got a little too worn looking and starting to use it for
contour. I then rebought it a few months ago as they updated the brush line and
mine had started shedding a little! This is my favourite brush for contouring
as it's quite small but not completely flat so there are no harsh lines and it
fits nicely under my cheek bone! It’s really soft so blends easily and it’s
probably my favourite brush ever! I've got about 2 to 3 years daily use out of
each of the previous versions I've had and while it’s quite pricey for a
drugstore brush, if you get them with a £3 off No7 voucher they work out much
better!
I switch quite frequently with this brush and a Zoeva 128 Cream Cheek brush depending on what blusher I am wearing but at the time of
taking these photos I had just got the Hourglass blush palette (found it in
stock online at John Lewis!) and this is the most perfect brush for applying
those blushers! I have preferred to use an angled blush brush for the last few
years as I feel I can apply my blush much more evenly and this and the Zoeva
128 are the perfect size.
I actually have two of these brushes, one from the starter
set (of which this is the only brush I rate) and one from the Nic’s Picks set.
This is by far my favourite brush to apply eyeshadow with. It’s soft, flexible
but not too flexible and applies just the right amount of eyeshadow. I wish
they would make this available as a single brush because I would definitely
pick up a couple more, mine are starting to look a little battered but they
still work really well!
This is my favourite blending brush to use, I love that it’s
angled! I find it fits my crease better and allows me to blend more
effectively! This is another brush I wish Real Techniques would sell separately
as I love it so much!
This is another brush I have two of and originally talked
about in this post! I use this bamboo handled one for my eyebrows when I’m
using powder for my brows or my Anastasia Dipbrow pomade and I also use the one
from the rose gold collection to apply eyeliner (usually just a black eyeshadow).
It’s not too firm so I get a really natural look when using this!
I generally use my fingers or a Real Techniques
sponge/Beauty Blender to apply my foundation so don’t really use brushes for
that! Let me know what your must have brushes are!
I do empties posts often enough now I thought I would put
together a post featuring some old favourites of mine that are repurchased
again and again and I can’t see myself switching up anytime soon!
First off we have my favourite makeup removal team, I always
do a double cleanse at night and to begin with I will take a few cotton pads
and use my Nivea Lotion for normal skin to dot on my face and gently remove my
makeup. The Soft & Pure Cotton wool cosmetic pads are so absorbent and the
Nivea is really creamy and works well to remove the bulk of my makeup before I
go for my second cleanse (where I usually use a balm or oil cleanser).
To remove my eye makeup which daily includes eyeshadow and a
lot of waterproof mascara, I use an oil based eye makeup remover, my favourite
being the Garnier Express 2 in 1 Eye Make Up Remover. This is so gentle, it
doesn’t sting my eyes and most importantly, it’s very effective at removing my
eye makeup without me having to rub or drag my eyes.
Next up we have a few makeup repurchases including my
favourite daily foundation. If you like affordable high coverage with a good
range of shades for those with paler skin then Revlon ColourStay foundation is
your guy! It was included in my empties post last week and I mentioned then that
I started panicking recently when I could find my shade in any Boots stores for
weeks and thought they had discontinued it! I finally found it and bought two
which should keep me going for a few months! I used to favour applying this
with my fingers as it tends to set quite quickly so I like to use the warmth
from my fingers to help spread it evenly but recently I have really been
enjoying using a Real Techniques Miracle Complexion Sponge to apply it! My
sponge is on its last legs though so I am thinking of upgrading to a Beauty
Blender soon!
I took advantage of the 3 for 2 offer on make up in Boots
recently to restock my favourite concealer, Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light, as I've hit pan and I use it daily so it won’t be long before it runs
out! I have a full post on this concealer and why I love it so
much already here but in short, it's creamy, has a peach tone to correct under
eye circles and a yellow tone for discolouration as well as a mini powder to
set and is the perfect size for handbags. I love it!
I also repurchased my favourite pressed powder – No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder in Translucent and used a £3 off No7 voucher while doing
so (gotta love Boots offers). This is amazing at stopping shine on my oily t
zone and I never hear it getting raved about! With other powders I have to top
up at lunchtime and sometimes feel my makeup can look a little cakey afterwards
but with this I just apply in the morning and that’s me to the evening! It’s
amazing!
Last but not least, another product I feared had been
discontinued, my beloved VO5 Refresh Me Quick Dry Shampoo! The scent of this is
so fresh and clean and even better, it leaves no white cast! I’m so happy to
see this back in stock, I usually buy mine in Savers as it’s a little cheaper
and I hope it sticks around this time! One of my favourite shampoos was
recently discontinued and I can’t take anymore disappointment!
So those are my forever repurchased products that I can't
see myself replacing with other products any time soon! Have you tried anything
I’ve mentioned? What products do you constantly repurchase?
I've been saving up my skin care, makeup, hair care and body
product empties for the last month or so and here are my thoughts and whether I
would repurchase! Quite a lot to get through so I'll try and keep it short and
sweet!
Body
Bliss Fat Girl Slim
60ml
I got this in the Look Fantastic beauty box a few months ago
and found it to be very liquidy – anyone else have this problem or it that what
it’s meant to be like? Nice minty scent but unfortunately can't say I've
noticed a difference on the area I applied it! Wouldn't repurchase!
Soap and Glory Flake
Away Body Polish 300ml
This smells divine but if you are looking a scrub I highly
recommend the Soap and Glory Pulp Friction over this, it's a bitch to clean out
of the bath! I always get this in the sets they do at Christmas but would never
buy it on its own!
Aussie Fresh Mate
Body Wash 250ml
Picked this up on offer one day when it first came out and
really enjoyed using it. Like the name says, it smells nice and fresh and like
the Aussie shampoo it has an almost jelly texture. Would repurchase :)
Nivea Soft Moisturising
Cream 300ml
I love this moisturising cream! It smells so fresh and clean
and absorbs so quickly moisturising really well without leaving you feeling
tacky. Already repurchased :)
Makeup
Revlon Colourstay
Makeup for Oily/Combination skin in the shade Buff 30ml
This is a constant repurchase for me, full coverage
foundation at a reasonable price (esp when on offer in Boots or Superdrug).
Already repurchased and using :)
No7 Translucent
Perfect Light Pressed Powder
Again I've mentioned this in previous posts but this is one
of my favourite powders for mattifying my skin! I love the fact I don't have to
reapply or touch up during the day and I'm confident I won't get shiny. Best to
buy when No7 has their £3 off vouchers going. Again already repurchased :)
Skincare
Liz Earle Cleanse and
Polish Hot Cloth Cleanser 30ml
I got this in a beauty box ages ago and only opened it
recently, found it to be a lot drier in texture than I thought it would be so I
used a lot of product each time I used it. Had a nice fresh scent and removed
my makeup well but I got through this so quickly I'm not sure if it would be
worth the money when there are other cleansers I like that last longer and are
cheaper! Haven't repurchased but would in the future!
The Body Shop
Camomile Silky Cleansing Oil 200ml
Speaking of cleansers that last a long time and are reasonably
priced, this one from The Body Shop is just that! One pump does my whole face
and neck and leaves it feeling super soft too. I haven't repurchased just yet
because I have a few other cleansers I want to try but will definitely be
making a repurchase in the near future :)
Eucerin Even Brighter
Day Cream 50ml
I have quite bad pigmentation on my skin from acne scarring
so got recommended this by the nurse. I actually used this at night even
through it’s a day cream because it's so rich. I found it moisturised well but
I didn't notice a big difference in the colouring of my pigmentation so for
that reason I won't be repurchasing (although I do have a night cream to get
through in the same brand!)
La Roche-Posay
Effaclar Astringent Lotion Micro-Exfoliant 200ml
I'm completely on the fence with this one, I used it like a
toner so after I cleansed and before I moisturised but can't say I saw any difference
and easily replaced it in my routine with something different. Won't be
repurchasing!
Haircare
L’oreal Hot and
Smooth Hot Straight Spray 200ml
When it comes to heat protectant I'm not loyal, this was a
nice spray and it did the job but I will probably try something different next
time!
L’oreal Elvive Fibrology
Thickening Shampoo 400ml
Really like this shampoo it smells so good and doesn't weigh
my hair down. However I can't say I noticed much thickening action but that's
probably because I straighten the shit out of my poor hair so flatten any
volume down! I would repurchase :)
Misc
Boots Sterile Saline 100ml
I thought I would include this as I wear monthlies every day
(which I get from Specsavers) and I always run out of saline solution before my
three month supply is up! I ran out of this extra bottle I bought too so had to
repurchase (and I got the bigger size to be sure this time). Anyone else have
this problem?
Apologies for this post being so long; I won’t let my
empties pile up so much next time! Thanks for reading J
