Best Beauty Discoveries 2022 | Makeup

best makeup products 2022

After last week’s best skincare discoveries of 2022, this week it’s the turn of my favourite makeup discoveries! Some of these I bought towards the end of 2021 but as always, it takes me so long to actually use them, it was 2022 before they came into their own! It’s always risky buying without having seen or swatched the product in person but I did my research and also got lucky as everything I’m talking about today, I bought this way!

Starting with bronzers and the Victoria Beckham Matte Bronzing Brick in 02 Soleil | Honey RRP £52 has easily made its way to the top of my favourite bronzer list. This is a weighty compact with a matte duo inside and it has the perfect amount of pigmentation. I mix the two together and it blends like a dream, instantly adds a natural warmth to my face without any patchiness and it lasts all day with no fading. The only thing that annoys me about it is the packaging which has a tendency to pop open, and it can be quite difficult to close but I’ll forgive it because it has such a beautiful formula!

victoria beckham dior bronzer

Sticking with bronzers and a very close second is the Dior Forever Natural Bronze in 04 Tan Bronze RRP £41. Like the VB, this has just the right amount of pigmentation and isn’t powdery at all. The packaging is lighter than the VB so easier to travel with and I would say I prefer the shade of the VB just a touch as I can customise it but I reach for this so much too!

Onto foundation now, and the NARS Light Reflecting Foundation in Gobi RRP £37.50 was a standout for me this year! It has a thin consistency but offers medium coverage, feels lightweight on the skin and is easily buildable, and leaves a very perfecting base. The formula is a mix of makeup and skincare and supposedly helps improve skins clarity and texture over time and I have been impressed with how long this wears on my skin! I haven’t found it to separate, and it’s been lasting a full day on my normal/combo skin! My skin looks more luminous when I use this, it covers minor imperfections well and gives me a healthy glow! Definitely my favourite NARS foundation out of the three I have tried! See my full review here!

Lip products next and I have a few to share! The first being the Dior Addict Lip Glow in 012 Rosewood RRP £30 and it was definitely a case of Instagram made me buy it but I’m glad I did! Tinted lip balms are my jam and this is definitely the fanciest one I own! Aside from beautiful packaging, the product inside is a lovely "my lips but better" sheer rosy nude shade. It's infused with colour-reviver technology that adapts to the pH level of lips to reveal a custom glow which was why I specifically didn’t go with the original pink shade as pH lip products tend to go bright pink on me! Rosewood is perfect though and the formula is beautiful, it lasts on my lips for a good few hours before I feel the need to reapply!

clarins lip oil honey review

clarins lip comfort oil honey review

The Clarins Lip Comfort Oil in 01 Honey RRP £21.50 has featured on the blog before in mini form, but I loved it so much I had to get a full size! It feels silky and not sticky at all while lasting a surprisingly long time on my lips keeping them comfortable and hydrated for hours. It gives a beautiful shine, contains omega 6 and 9, rose oil and jojoba oil and comes in a bunch of shades and I just got the Christmas mini 4 pack to try some more shades too!

hourglass phantom volumizing glossy balm review slip

Lastly, in the lip category I have the Hourglass Phantom Volumizing Glossy Balm in Slip RRP £28. Not my favourite packaging mechanism (you can’t wind the product back down) but the product itself is beautiful! These are super glossy but not sticky and the colour is buildable. Again, they last quite a while on my lips and while I don’t find the plumping/volumizing aspect too much, they do make my lips look fuller! Would definitely consider picking up a few more shades if I saw these on offer again!

pat mcgrath divine rose blush review

I purchased a few blushes this year but way out in front is the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish: Divine Blush in Divine Rose RRP £30. This is described as a cool mauve rose demi matte and I honestly think this might be my favourite blush in my collection. As well as having the most beautiful imprint, I love the shade (I tend to prefer matte products), the pigmentation is perfect, it’s easily blendable, looks so natural and it has great lasting powder. I also have the shade Nymphette which I like but I love this one! Really want to try the blush duos too!

Finally, the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish: Sublime Perfection Blurring Under Eye Powder in Light RRP £25 has really impressed me. This is so lightweight yet it sets my under eye so it never looks powdery or dry. It’s so finely milled and blurring and barely detectable!

And that’s my 2022 best makeup discoveries! I bought everything here when it was on sale or the website had a good offer running as I hate paying full price! These are all pricey items so definitely shop around or wait until you see a good deal if you are planning a splurge and want to save some money! Do you see any of your favoruites? Let me know what makeup products stood out to you this year!

Makeup Review | My Favourite Mask Proof Tinted Lip Balms

face mask proof tinted lipbalms lipsticks

My beloved lipliners and lipsticks have taken a backseat this year due to obvious reasons but I thought I would show you my favourite tinted lip balms that have taken their place and I’ve got one for every day of the week! In my last job, my mask was on and off quite a bit depending on if I was at my desk or out of my little office and these lip products are tried and tested! They are my favourite for adding some colour to my lips (which have a tendency to go the same colour as my makeup if there is nothing on them) and they give little to no transfer to the inside of my mask but they never transfer over my face!

First up is the hybrid Fenty Beauty Slip Shine Sheer Shiny lipstick in Retro Rose RRP £19 and this is one I have spoken about before on my blog here! I would say it’s the creamiest of the bunch, a beautiful colour and lasts a fair amount of time on my dry lips too! I then have the Jouer Essential Lip Enhancer Shine Balm in Rose RRP £15 which feels a little more lightweight on my lips compared to the Fenty and isn’t as longlasting but it gives a lovely shine to the lips!

best tinted lip balms for under face mask

Quite possibly my favourite of the bunch is the Charlotte Tilbury Superstar Lips in Pillowtalk RRP £25. This one is actually feels quite stiff to apply but it is the longest lasting on my lips of the seven I have here, most hydrating and though its pricey I have definitely gotten my money’s worth! It’s also the most luxurious – look at that packaging! It’s the perfect plumping, my lips but better shade and don’t tell the others but it’s my favourite! The Nude by Nature Sheer Glow Colour Balm in Pink 03 RRP £18 lives in my handbag with whatever clear lip balm I have in rotation as it’s the least hydrating of the ones I have here but it gives a perfect tint and if I feel my lips getting dry I just top up with some clear lip balm!

Moving onto my minis now and the Hourglass Girl Lip Stylo in Influencer RRP £31 is the perfect nude shade while the NARS Afterglow Lip Balm in Dolce Vita RRP £23 is the most lightweight of all the balms I have here, you seriously feel like you have nothing on but the shade is beautiful and the hydration lasts well! Lastly, I’ve got the Pat McGrath Lip Fetish Sheer Lip Balm in Blow Up RRP £33 which is another beautiful nude shadeI’m glad I got the mini on offer though as the full size is so pricey though they seem to do regular discounts on the website! I also dedicated a whole blog post to the mini set I got here!

I’ve included some unedited swatches here too so you can see the shades and formulation as well! If I was ranking from most to least favourite I would say CT, NARS, Fenty, Jouer, Hourglass, Pat then Nude by Nature!

This is my final blog post before Christmas but I’ll be back with my last empties post of the year next Sunday and will be posting regularly on Instagram this week! I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas whatever your plans are, I know they may be different than usual and I feel for you if that’s the case!

Let me know your favourite tinted lip balms down below please!

Summer Lovin’ Tag

summer lovin tag danielles beauty blog

Hi everyone, I was tagged by the lovely Leanne to do the Summer Lovin’ Tag so here it is J

Favourite Perfume
I have the tiniest perfume collection because I am so picky with scents but a firm favourite of mine is DKNY Be Delicious. I wear this all year round but it’s perfect in summer because it’s so fresh and light! It lasts all day on me and I love pairing it with the matching body lotion which I’ve just ran out of! This isn’t in the photo because it’s impossible to photograph!

Favourite Lip Colour
This is a tough one for me because I love lip products! Revlon Super Lustrous lipstick in Lovers Coral is an old favourite and fail safe for me because it’s sheer enough to apply without a mirror but just makes me look done and I love the coral colour and shine for summer! A close second is Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat in Pillow Talk which I have become obsessed with since I got it, I love the shade and it’s so long lasting!

Favourite Drink
If I’m out it’s a gin and tonic but I drink water constantly throughout the day at work and I’m also partial to a Coke!

Favourite Blush
This is too hard, blush is probably my favourite makeup item and I own so many! I do love Hourglass Luminous Flush though, it’s so brightening and makes me look really healthy! Well I think so anyway!

Swatches l-r: Hourglass Luminous Flush, Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk, Revlon Lovers Coral

Favourite Clothing Item
I’m a jeans and t-shirt kinda girl but on holidays I lived in my Topshop denim skirt and my ASOS denim pinafore in the evenings!

Favourite Movie
I do have films I like to watch at certain times of the year (Prince of Egypt at Easter and Hocus Pocus at Halloween to name a few) but none that I can think of in summer! I did use to set aside a day during the summer holidays to watch all three Mighty Ducks movies though and D2 will forever be my favourite! Can’t wait to see Suicide Squad this summer!

Favourite TV Show
All my TV shows seem to have come to an end now it’s the summer but I love Blindspot, Peaky Blinders, Game of Thrones and The Vampire Diaries!

Favourite Food
Pizza for life but also anything with chicken involved! I feel like I eat bigger portions in winter but the heat in summer seems to make me fuller quicker ha! Oh and ice lolly’s are a must in summer!

Thanks to Leanne for tagging me! I find it hard to keep on top of who has done these tags but if you haven’t already done it I tag Velvet Blush, Aisha and Ela!

Tell me some of your favourites in the comments below!

My Most Used Makeup

most used makeup hourglass blush urban decay naked basics 2 revlon colorstay lovers coral no7 perfect light powder soap and glory concealer

Happy Easter everyone, hope you are all having a lovely time if you're off! I'm putting this up a little earlier than I usually would because of the Bank Holiday! I think it’s fair to say most of us here probably have a little too much makeup (am I right or am I right?) and while I definitely do, I still have products that I use way more than others so I thought I would share these today. The first three products aren’t going to be a surprise to anyone who has stumbled across my blog before as I feel like I mention them every other post! Sorry!

My favourite drugstore foundation, it has medium to full matte coverage and has a great selection of colours for paler skinned girls. My favourite ways to apply this are with my fingers or a damp beauty blender and it blends in seamlessly giving me great coverage all day long. Revlon have recently brought it out with a pump so I’m excited to give that a try though I stocked up on the old bottles as they were half price for a while there so it could be a while before I get my hands on one! More about it here

Again I never stop banging on about this either (sorry!). It is the best powder I’ve ever tried and while I usually have two or three powders on the go (to stop my skin getting used to them) this one wins every time when I know I need something that it going to mattify my skin, look undetectable and help my foundation stay put all day! It’s so lightweight and long lasting, the compact is nice and weighty with a big mirror and No7 always do £3 off vouchers so it’s regularly on offer! Try it, you won’t regret it!

Soap and Glory Kick Ass Concealer in Light
Another product I won’t spend too long talking about because you can read my full thoughts here but this is the best concealer ever! Creamy, full coverage and so handy to travel with as it has a mini powder compact and mirror, I couldn’t be without this! The left hand side is perfect for covering dark circles and the right hand side is great for concealing blemishes!

I think this was the first proper lipstick I ever bought on the recommendation of Alix from I Covet Thee a few years ago! It’s a sheer coral number that is light and glossy on the lips and just gives the most perfect colour to brighten up your face! As you can tell by the size of the bullet left this is very well loved by me! Although I’ve more recently got a few fancier lipsticks from Urban Decay and MAC there is just something about this one that I always come back to. I also have a backup even though it will probably take me another year to finish what’s left of this one!

Hourglass ambient lighting blush palette urban decay naked basics 2

Hands down my favourite eyeshadow palette and it contains the only eyeshadow I have ever hit pan on which considering the amount of palettes I have, I never thought would happen! Quite obviously Frisk is my most used shade and I usually take it all over the lid then put some Primal in the outer corner and Undone along my lash line with Skimp on my brow bone! I get so much more wear out of matte shades as I find them easier to work with and quicker to apply especially in the mornings! I do really like the original Naked Basics palette too but just slightly prefer the cooler tones of this one!

Hourglass Ambient Lighting Blush Palette
I remember the hype when this came out last year/two years ago (I can’t even remember anymore) and I thought it looked amazing  but no way was I paying £56 for a few blushers. Fast-forward to more hype over the next limited edition offering of the ambient lighting edit and I decided I didn’t want the tiny pans, highlighter, powder and bronzer but I needed the blush palette. Thankfully John Lewis seemed to have a few in stock and I spent the most money I ever have on a beauty product and bought the blush palette (though it was PayPal money so that doesn’t really count does it?). I was expecting a metal palette for some reason and was a little disappointed in the size of the pans but the quality of these blushes is beautiful. They are so soft, last all day and give the most gorgeous glow to the skin. I originally thought Incandescent Electra would be my go to but it’s actually my least favourite as I find it a bit too glittery for my liking. Mood Exposure is lovely but Luminous Flush definitely comes out on top for me, it’s so subtle but just makes me look so healthy and I think it’s impossible to go over the top with these as they are so perfectly pigmented!

Let me know if any of these are your favourites too!
