Beauty Spend Report | October and November 2021

october november beauty sepnd report haul 2021

It’s been a while! But after a delayed delivery, I am finally back with a new spending report. After a no buy in September, and almost making it through October too (two little purchases), Black Friday reared its ugly head and I got a little spend happy. November is my birthday month and it’s always bad spending wise for me but I knew it was coming and I have managed a few no buy months this year. A lot of this were items I put off buying myself last year or the year before and while I don’t necessarily “need” it I obviously still wanted it so here we are!

Starting with October purchases, I grabbed the Fenty Beauty Pro Kiss’r Luscious Lip Balm which had 20% off making it £12 instead of £15. Tinted lip balms are really all I am using these days and I absolutely love Fenty makeup so this has slotted in nicely! Also this month, I grabbed the Pat McGrath Skin Fetish: Divine Blush in Divine Rose as I saw they had 30% off around Halloween and it was down to £21 from £30. I also then used a 10% off code so this came to £18.90! It’s been hectic the last while so I still haven’t managed to use this yet, oops!

Moving into November then where most of the damage was done. I couldn’t resist the Space NK Best of Beauty Discovery box especially as it had a full size Olaplex No.3 and Laura Mercier Translucent Loose setting powder which I had been planning on repurchasing anyway. I had also just finished a Sol de Janeiro Bum Bum cream which I love and it’s got a mini Paula’s Choice BHA liquid exfoliant as well as The Ordinary’s Salicylic Acid mask which I have wanted to try for a while! This was £40 with a value of £93.

DECIEM also ran an offer of 23% off all through November (see more in this post!) and I made two orders. The first included the Abnomoly Shop fragrance, Lactic Acid 10% + HA and the Multi Peptide Serum for hair density. This came to £28.96 instead of £37.60. My second order consisted of the elusive Copper Amino Isolate Lipid (CAIL) which I had already missed quite a few times when it came back into stock and the Resveratrol 3% and Ferulic Acid 3% coming to £58.13 instead of £75.50.

victoria beckham dior bronzer

A couple of days before my birthday, I got an early access code for the Victoria Beckham Beauty sale for 20% off, and having had my eye on the bronzer duo I decided to hit check out. Seeing there was a delivery charge, I also ended up picking up a lipstick – anyone else refuse to pay for shipping even if it costs you more to get it free lol? This came to £68.80 instead of £86.

ASOS had 25% off in the build-up to black Friday so I ended up getting a brush I’ve had my eye on for a while – the Charlotte Tilbury bronzer and blusher brush which was £22.50 instead of £30.

Escentual also had 25% off and in a case of Instagram made me do it, I picked up the Dior Forever Natural Bronze (I had been eyeing up the Gucci bronzer as well but none of the shades seem quite right!) and the Clarins Makeup Heroes gift set coming to £48.75 instead of £65.

Look Fantastic always has a discount code or two floating around and I decided to purchase these just before Black Friday too as they were going in and out of stock but the Sol de Janeiro Stellar Celebrations and Star Treatment sets caught my eye as I love Bum Bum cream and Brazilian Kiss so much and I’ve been wanting to try their shampoo and conditioner. I also picked up the Living Proof PhD Dry Shampoo (this was a duo set but one is a gift so I have halved its price). In total this came to £62.98 instead of £76.50. In a second order, I also stocked up on more Olaplex No.3 and got the supersize for £35.88 instead of £52.

From Holland and Barrett, I also picked up a new Dr Bronner’s liquid soap as I just finished mine and it’s my preferred brush cleanser – this was £6.60 instead of £8.79.

Cult Beauty also did 25% off for Black Friday and I got blush happy with a couple I had eyed up last year but didn’t get as I chose some others – Charlotte Tilbury Cheek to Chic Sex on Fire and Chantecaille Cheek Shade Emotion. This order came to £48.75 instead of £65.

Finally, a brand I have wanted to try for years - Necessaire. They don’t do huge discounts as far as I could see but I did have a 10% off and they were sending a free Body Serum out with orders so I got the Body Essentials in Eucalyptus including the body wash, lotion and exfoliator. This came to $59 instead of $65 (including $5 shipping) so £46.19 not £50.89 ish.

necessaire body products

My October total was £30.90 instead of £45 and November was £467.54 instead of £640.28. And that’s me stocked up on hair/body/skin and makeup products for the next year! Like I said, I knew it was going to be an expensive month with purchases I have been putting off until there was a better offer/restocks and just generally treating myself as it was my birthday! I am hoping for a quieter December to end this series and hope to get that up in the next few weeks to round up the year! Did you pick up much in the sales? Have you tried anything I’ve mentioned? Let me know what you think!

Beauty Spend Report | August 2021

daniellesbeautyblog beauty spend report august 2021

It feels like it’s been no time at all since my beauty spend report but here we are again! To be honest, this really doesn’t bode well for me for the latter half of the year which is always the worst for me spending wise anyway because of my birthday and Christmas but we’ll roll with it and try not to go overboard!

mabel and meg lumilixir review

My first purchase this month was the Mabel + Meg Lumilixir Serum and I ended up buying the saver bundle with two bottles and I have no idea why because I have a surplus of both hyaluronic acid and Vitamin C in my stash right now lol. Anyway they had 30% off and though I haven’t had this in a couple of years (see, I told you I was in surplus of HA) it did use to be one of my absolute favourites so I am hoping I still feel the same! I first got this in 2017 from Cult Beauty – though I thought it was way before that! - but they have since stopped stocking it (along with all my old Indie brand favourites *rolls eyes*) and I think the only place you can get it is directly from the website now. Singularly the 30ml is £39 but the bundle was £70 and I got it for £49 (with £4 shipping – I despise paying shipping lol). I feel like this use to be an Instagram/blogger favourite and I literally never hear about it or see anyone feature it anymore but I am excited to try it again!

tonic 15 travel bag

Then, after a particularly frustrating Friday at work, I decided to treat myself with an order on the Sunday of something I have wanted for ages! The Tonic 15 Build Your Own Skincare Kit. I picked the blush pink travel bag plus the mini Aromatica Reviving Rose Infusion Treatment Toner and I’m From Fig Boosting Essence which I have been eyeing up forever, as well the I’m From Rice Toner which I have already been through a full size of and loved! As this was in a bundle sadly there was no added discount (believe me I tried multiple codes :P) so this came to £39.

tonic 15 travel bag skincare kit

Like I said, I ordered this on the Sunday as the website says items will usually be dispatched the next working day and arrive in 2-5 working days, and I had a trip away planned for the following Saturday. Unfortunately for me this still hadn’t been dispatched by Thursday and when I emailed to enquire if it had gone out of stock I was told it would be dispatched by end of day Friday and they would add in a sheet mask for my patience. Their customer service is nice and I know they are a smaller business but I was really disappointed with the lack of speed and explanation on why it took so long to dispatch never mind not actually getting to use it for my trip! A frustration purchase turned into a frustrating order! Hey at least it looks cute I guess.

ouai hair refresh kit colorwow dreamcoat

Over the bank holiday weekend, Look Fantastic are known for their offers and I took advantage and grabbed the ColorWow Dream Coat Supernatural Spray (normally £26, I got for £18.72) which is meant to be amazing for frizzy hair that’s affected by humidity and my hair has been shocking recently! I asked about this on Instagram too and so many people in my DM’s encouraged me to get it! I haven’t tried it yet but I’ll let you know if it’s any good! It's silicone free and meant to last up to 72 hours! I then picked up the OUAI Hair Refresh Kit (worth £44, usually £28 and I got for £22.40) containing the Super Dry Shampoo and Detox Shampoo. I love the OUAI products but haven’t tried the Dry Shampoo before but I know this formula gets great reviews so I am looking forward to being a bit boujier with my dry shampoo this time over my normal £2 buys! The detox shampoo just because like I said, I use dry shampoo a lot so this will help make sure I get rid of any build up!

So that’s that for my August purchases! Overall, I spent £133.12 which without savings would have been £167. Did you have a good month spending wise or a blow out? I already have my eye on the new Cult Beauty Edit and signed up to the waitlist as I think it’s such a good deal and I want to try a good few of the products so I know I will be making at least one purchase this month! Check out last month’s Beauty Spend Report here!

Beauty Spend Report | February 2021

danielles beauty blog spend report

Uh oh, it’s that time again and I really did plan to be good this month but what started with a little slip became a full on slide into treat yo self territory as I started a new job and decided to reward myself muhahaha.

cult beauty lip edit review
cult beauty the lip edit

Back in, I think January, I saw the Cult Beauty Lip Edit was coming soon so signed up to the waitlist. Unfortunately, it’s sold out now but it contains five lip products – the Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Lip Pop, Huda Beauty Silk Balm and Patchology Flash Patch Hydrating Lip Gel which I haven’t tried before and the Nuxe Reve de Miel lip balm and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Kiss lip butter which I have! For £20 but with contents worth over £55 I couldn’t pass this up as I am going through lip balms like crazy at the minute and I had planned on repurchasing the Sol de Janeiro balm anyway as I loved it so much (it’s £15 alone!) It reminds me of the Sephora Favourites sets and I love the big reusable box it comes in too, I hope Cult Beauty do more of these!

vieve sunset blush cherub review

Next up, another Cult Beauty order and I convinced myself I didn’t need these but then I got a 15% off code and couldn’t resist any longer! I picked up the Vieve Sunset Blush in Cherub (normally £23, I got for £19.55). This is a lot more pigmented than I thought it was going to be so requires a light hand but first impressions are good, it wears for an impressive amount of time! I also picked up the Ordinary Concealer in 1.1N (£4.90 but got for £4.17) which is unfortunately is a little too light for me, the formula itself seems good though, lightweight but not as much coverage as say the NARS Soft Matte concealer. The Charlotte Tilbury Hyaluronic Happikiss in Pillowtalk was the last product from this haul and at £25 full price it isn’t the most affordable lip balm I have in my collection, getting it for £21.25 made me feel a little better! The packaging is not quite as luxe as say the Superstar Lips but it’s a beautiful formula and shade and I can’t wait to wear it more! With this order I also got 5% cashback through my bank as they had a retailer offer with Cult Beauty so another £2.25 will go back into my bank account!

Lastly, I was missing my brow lady and getting sick of having to fill in my brows so much so I did a little order of the Eylure Dybrow Eyebrow Dye Kit in Dark Brown for £6.50. I am super happy with the results of this so far, I didn’t leave on for the full recommended time as it was the first time I had done my own brows but I was happy with the colour it gave so will keep it on longer next time! Also, not pictured is a last minute order of some black lash dye as I may as well go all out (£10.96)!

I also used Top Cashback on my Cult Beauty orders which will give me back 52p when it clears as well as the £2.25 from the bank! My final total spend was £82.43 instead of £90.36! There are a few things on my shopping list at the minute but they are mostly repurchases so I will try to make more of a concerted effort over the next few months with my spending! Hopefully my next beauty spend report will be an amalgamation of a couple of months! If you want to see Janaury’s Beauty Spend Report click here!

Beauty Spend Report | January 2021

fenty beauty nars haul

I almost made it through January with no beauty purchases but I caved when Boots did a payday offer with 20% off and I thought treat yo’self. With that thought, I decided I might also try to turn this into a blog series and spending diary for myself this year! I have done something similar in the form of my Try not to Buy hauls but it’s been literal years since I last did one and I didn’t go into details on pricing or anything. Since I try not to buy anything full price I’m going to try keep track of my savings and spending with these spend reports – I’m also hoping there won’t be one every month!

nars soft matte foundation deauville

The product that started this haul off was the NARS Soft Matte Complete Foundation in Deauville. It’s been receiving rave reviews and curiosity got the better of me. I kicked myself after Christmas as this had 20% off and I didn’t pick it up then I had regrets so I patiently waited for another offer and Boots delivered! Full price this is £28 but with 20% off it was £22.40 and I actually used my advantage card points to pay for this so it was guilt free! I’ve been using this all week and I have to say my first impressions are very good – I think I will do a full review after I have tried it for a while longer but it was points well spent!

nars afterglow balm fast lane orgasm

I then did a separate order – side note – it is so annoying you can’t part pay on Boots with points and you can’t use gift cards either! This order consisted of the NARS Mini Afterglow Lip Balm Duo in Orgasm and Fast Lane which is now out of stock and I wasn’t expecting it to be in stock for me either but I saw it because was sitting in my saved for later from Christmas and had a third off in the January sale so instead of being £20 was £13.33. I already have the shade Dolce Vita and love it and I am using balms a lot more than lipsticks at the minute so was happy to pick these up!

fenty skin startr kit

Next up, a gloss that has been on my radar for ages and again while it was 20% off I thought I would take the opportunity to try it! I find Boots more regularly do 15% off Fenty rather than 20% and while it’s not a massive difference it’s all money! I picked up the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb in Fu$$y and one of the newer cream versions too – the Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Colour Drip Lip Cream in Fenty Glow. These are both £17 full price but £13.60 with the discount. Finally, the Fenty Skin Start’r Set dropped into my basket. It contains minis of the Total Cleans’r, Fat Water and Hydra Vizor and is £32 full price and £25.60 with the 20% off. I thought these minis were a bit bigger so I’m annoyed as the price does still seem quite steep for the size but hopefully they are good and will be worth the money! Love the cardboard packaging too!

fenty beauty cream gloss bomb

As well as the 20% discount, I also had a £5 off voucher I was pleasantly surprised that worked so my total for this haul was £61.13 instead of £114 which I was pretty happy with! I used TopCashback to shop too which sometimes takes quite a while to clear but is pending 56p and 73p for these two transactions (let me know if you want a referral link)! I used to use Ebates as well when I lived in Canada which is the same idea and got cashback through my online shopping!

I have a really old blogpost on the Best UK Beauty Sites and how to save money that I would like to do an updated version of this at some point this year but most of the content is still relevant if you are also looking to save on your beauty spending this year! I can’t wait to try out everything here so let me know if there is anything specific you want to see a review on! I always post more pictures on Instagram so do come over and say hello there too! Did you make any makeup or skincare purchases this year yet?
