Current Skincare | Toners #4

It’s been just over a year since my last Toner collection update so I thought I would grab my current open bottles and do a quick rundown! This is quite exfoliating toner heavy only because in my last edition I was on Roaccutane so couldn’t use them and they have kind of built up! I definitely don’t use exfoliating products as much now as when I had acne but I still love having them in my collection as I tend to use them on my body too.

toner review daniellesbeautyblog

First up, one that is no stranger to my blog, and I have gone through many bottles of – the Pixi Glow Tonic RRP £18. This is such a cult classic and also featured in my first toner post in 2017 as it’s usually always in my collection! It contains 5% glycolic acid as well as ginseng and aloe vera for hydration. As well as dissolving dead skin cells, it diminishes signs of sun damage, fine lines and scarring, smooths uneven texture and never dries my skin out. It’s popular for a reason and one of my favourite toners!

Sticking with glycolic acid the Good Molecules Glycolic Exfoliating Toner RRP $14* is another good one. This is a 3.5% glycolic concentration so even more gentle than the Glow Tonic and perfect if you have sensitive skin. My skin feels smooth and even with continued use and I love the Good Molecules nothing to hide ingredients list. This toner also contains galactomyces ferment which helps retain skin barrier function and moisture level as well as hyaluronic acid and aloe to help to hydrate and soothe skin. Read my full review here!

Moving away from glycolic now to the By Wishtrend Mandelic Acid 5% Skin Prep Water RRP £20.10. Mandelic acid has a larger molecular structure than glycolic so is even more gentle though similarly works to improve pigmentation and even skintone. This one also contains beta glucan – an anti-inflammatory, panthenol and centella asiatica to help regenerate and sodium hyaluronate for hydration. I personally think glycolic acid works better for my skin when it comes to pigmentation but this does a great job at smoothing and evening skin tone and was the only exfoliating toner I dared try when I was at the end of my Roaccutane course and needed a little exfoliation so I can attest to its gentleness on my skin as I had no issues (but proceed with caution if on Roaccutane)!

I probably should have kept the Sioris Feels So Fresh Toner RRP £17 out of this round up because it’s the only one I haven’t really managed to form an opinion on! It falls into the nice but boring category for me, I don’t have any issues with it, but it hasn’t stood out to me either. It contains Black Willow Extract to exfoliate, eliminate blackheads and control oil, Guava Leaf Extract (an antioxidant) and Broccoli Extract to soothe and calm skin. I bought this pre Roaccutane then didn’t use it when I was on the drug and now my skin type has changed, and these aren’t my skin concerns anymore so it’s difficult to review it! What I will say though is that it’s another one that feels gentle and doesn’t dry my skin out despite the sebum controlling properties, but I do have other toners I prefer.

Next, I have the CosRX AHA/BHA Clarifying Treatment Toner RRP £19.99 and this is my second bottle – I had it years ago and really enjoyed it. It contains willow bark water and apple fruit water to clear clogged pores and dead skin cells as well as glycolic acid and betaine salicylate. My skin is smoother with use and I love the spray bottle – I actually use this a lot on my body too, particularly on KP on the backs of my arms as well as my chest and back where I do still get the occasional spot and it works so well to smooth my skin and is super easy to distribute!

Another old favourite and I have been through a few bottles of the Dear Klairs Supple Preparation Facial Toner RRP £20.10* too! My skin loves this for how calming and hydrating it is. It’s a gel like texture and contains hyaluronic acid centella asiatica and amino acids so as well as feeling cooling and calming it helps add moisture and strengthen my skin. A simple but hydrating formula – my skin drinks it up and looks plumper after use! There are essential oils in this formula which don’t cause any sensitivity for me but Klairs also have an unscented version without them! Read more about this toner in my K Beauty favourites here!

Lastly, the Glow Recipe PHA + BHA Pore Tight Toner RRP £14. The Glow Recipe products I have tried in the past are really meh to me to be honest and it’s not a brand I get excited about over the latest releases. I have had minis of their watermelon sleep mask, blueberry cleanser and lip pop and I just don’t get the hype but I will say that this toner is the best out of the products I have tried! It contains hyaluronic acid to hydrate, PHA’s and BHA’s to smooth and decongest skin and my skin did feel smooth with use. I don’t like the sickly-sweet scent or the almost greasy consistency of this though and I think there are better options for better prices!

Forever Repurchased #9

Good morning! I’ve been doing some shopping recently so thought I’d quickly talk through the repurchases that have made the cut for me!

tigi small talk OUAI North Bondi review

If you have read my blog for any length of time you may know what a huge fan I am of OUAI! They are hands down my favourite haircare brand and a few years ago they released some perfumes of the signature scents of their products! I’ve just finished my original North Bondi which I got back last summer and immediately repurchased it as I am obsessed with the scent! I am no good at explaining scents and it’s such a personal thing anyway as they smell different on everyone but here are the notes for anyone interested and it smells like the wave spray and leave in conditioner:
Top Notes: Bergamot, Apple Blossom, Raspberry, Italian Lemon
Heart Notes: Rose de Mai, Jasmine, Violet
Base Notes: Patchouli, Sandalwood, White Musk
Trusty old Look Fantastic also had 20% off so I may have treated myself to Melrose Place too hehe. I don’t find this the longest lasting perfume I’ve ever had but that might be due to the fact I can barely smell it off myself though I always get compliments when I wear it J

This is one of my most long term hair loves but I’m not sure it’s ever featured on my blog before! I think this may be my 3rdor 4thbottle and I know I definitely left one behind in Canada and had to chuck an old one I found when I got home! It’s a thickening cream you add to damp hair which doesn’t weigh my fine hair down at all, gives it more body through the ends, hydrates and smooths it and you guessed it, makes it look thicker! It smells like blueberries and I am so glad to have it back in my life and I am already noticing I am picking my split ends less! I would really recommend shopping round for it as it’s always on offer, I actually got this in Home Bargains for £4.99, they have such a great hair section!

Did anyone else take advantage of the Boots offer the other week when this was £10? Again, it’s been a while since this was in my collection but I am so excited to reintroduce it as I used to love it! It’s the perfect gentle exfoliant to use daily and with consistent use I always used to see improvements in my skin texture and leftover scarring.

I’ve received these previously through PR but you know it’s good when you continuously repurchase them yourself! I’ve been going through hand cream at a rate of knots at the minute and couldn’t wait to get these back in my collection after using up some ones I had in my stash already! They are lightweight but so hydrating and they sink in quickly and smell so fresh! Can’t recommend them enough!

I finally found some Tresemme Dry Shampoo! This was my go to brand when I lived in Canada as it was so affordable, left no white cast and give my hair some added volume! Hoping it’s the same formula here, I’ll be sure to report back!

I’d love to know if you have been making any purchases recently? I was so good for so long but have went a bit crazy recently! Still waiting on a few to be delivered then I might do a round up haul post!

The Latest in Beauty Glamour Summer Edit

glamour latest in beauty summer edit box

I don’t subscribe to any beauty boxes because I don’t like surprises; I like to see what I’m getting for my money! The only ones I’ve purchased in the past are the Latest in Beauty offerings and the odd one from Look Fantastic. As soon as I saw the newest Glamour collaboration with Latest in Beauty I didn’t waste any time checking out with it. For £17.99 you get 11 different items all must haves for the summer! Here’s what’s in the box:

I got the shade Kensington Passage, a bright coral shade that will look amazing with a tan over the summer months!

This is described as a self-tanning bronzer that develops and lasts for up to five days. I’m excited to try it and the kabuki brush that comes with it is so soft!

Pixi Glow Tonic
I already have and love the full size of this so I’m glad I now have a mini for any trips away!

L’Occitane Shampoo and Conditioner
I have never tried anything from L’Occitane but I’ve heard a lot of good things so I can’t wait to see how this shampoo and conditioner fare!

Caudalie Divine Oil
If you saw my last post, I recently bought a few other bits from Caudalie so I’m looking forward to trying this multitasking oil now too!

Bourjois Colour Boost lip crayon (3 variations)
I got the shade Peach on the Beach which unfortunately I already own buuuut my mum also bought one of these boxes so I’m hoping if she receives a different colour she will swap with me :)

Again, I haven’t tried anything from Balance Me before but I love scrubs so I have high hopes for this with its promise to tone!

Eucerin Sun Care (4 variations)
I got the SPF 30 Sun Crème for face which I haven’t tried out yet but I’m hoping it won’t be too greasy as I want to put make up over it! SPF is so important all year round but especially now in the Summer so I’m glad I have this!

Seekers of the Sun Luxury Temporary Tattoos
Not going to lie I will never use these haha I will probably give them to a younger cousin who will have a field day with them!

Glamour latest in beauty summer edit review products

Overall, a great box! Looking closer at the variations available for the Eucerin sun cream I would have preferred the Mattifying Sun Fluid for face as I have quite oily skin but I’m so happy with the contents!
