Product Empties #44

daniellesbeautyblog product empties

A slightly better number of empties compared to my last post in December and I finally feel like I am back on it with finishing products! Lets see what we have this time!

Haircare

Dove Go Active Dry Shampoo

I mentioned the dry shampoo recall in my last empties post and this was another one I had to check the batch code of but thankfully it wasn’t affected. Overall, while not as effective as the Living Proof dry shampoo I have been loving, this is a good budget option. It soaks up oil, leaves no white cast and gives me another day out of my hair. Have repurchased.

Living Proof PhD Dry Shampoo x2

This stuff on the other hand is incredible! It is a lot pricier than my usual budget dry shampoos, but it is the best I have tried! It leaves no white cast, absorbs easily giving me an extra day or two out of my greasy hair and actually makes it look clean. It also gives a bit of lift which is perfect as my hair can look lank when greasy and it has a really subtle fresh scent. I don’t normally go that long between washes but this makes it easy! Well worth the money and it featured in my Best Beauty Discoveries in Haircare for 2022! Have repurchased.

Sol de Janeiro Strengthening + Smoothing Shampoo

This SLS free shampoo smells exactly like Bum Bum Cream and left my hair feeling clean and soft and obviously smelling amazing! I do have other shampoos I prefer but I would repurchase this if it was on a good offer.

Sol de Janeiro Strengthening + Smoothing Conditioner

Lovely hydrating conditioner that again smells beautiful! Again, I have other conditioners I prefer but I would repurchase.

Sol de Janeiro Triple Brazilian Butter Hair Repair Treatment

Another gorgeous product from SDJ that hydrates hair and makes it smell amazing! Would repurchase.

Bodycare

Nivea Nourishing Body Milk

You know know how much I love Nivea and while this smells clean and fresh and moisturises well, it’s not my favourite formula! I find it smears over my skin and I need to work it in more than their other body moisturisers so this wont be a repurchase for me but I will pick up their Smooth body lotion again which I love!

Eucerin Complete Repair Moisturizing Lotion

My go to in winter! I use this mostly on my legs as they get so dry in winter and this stuff instantly calms skin and stops me scratching my eczema patches. I have been using it for years and always go back to it! Will repurchase!

First Aid Beauty KP Bump Eraser Body Scrub

Really enjoyed this scrub, it’s very fine so did a good job of smoothing my KP. It contains both pumice for physical exfoliation and 10% AHA for chemical exfoliation and I would repurchase if I find it on offer!

Skincare

Dermalogica Hyaluronic Ceramide Mist*

A lovely, hydrating and smoothing facial mist. It’s rose scented but I am a bit sick of the scent so not a repurchase for me as there are a lot of other facial mists I prefer including the Dermalogica Antioxidant Hydramist! See my full review here!

Sioris Time is Running Out Mist

There was a lot of hype over this one but it fell a bit flat for me. Worked well to hydrate my skin throughout the day but again there are just other mists I prefer so not a repurchase for me!

Nivea Express Eye Makeup Remover

Probably my most repurchased skincare item. It’s dual phase formula makes taking off waterproof eye makeup a breeze! Gentle, doesn't sting my eyes or dry out the skin around them! A must have on everyone’s skincare shelf and a good budget buy too!

NIOD Copper Amino Isolate Serum

Dare I say my favourite serum and a staple in my skincare rotation since 2016. It’s a pro-repair and pro-collagen serum that maintains healthy looking skin by targeting signs of skin ageing like textural damage, uneven skin tone, enlarged pores and a lack of radiance. My skin is more even, clear and firm when I use this consistently! It’s watery and sinks in quickly and can be used in the morning and evening. My skin just looks better when I use this and I will repurchase once I use up a few more serums in my stash. See my full review here!

NIOD Modulating Glucosides*

A really interesting serum that targets sensitive, irritated skin encouraging a calmer complexion. It supports the skin barrier, hydration and repair and helps reduce redness, itching and burning. Again, it’s lightweight and sinks in easily though the scent is quite strong. It is such a comforting serum and really helped calm and repair my barrier and if you struggle with sensitivity you need to try this! Will repurchase! Full review here!

Vichy Mineral 89 Eyes*

This is a lovely, lightweight formula and the pump dispenses the perfect amount of product every time! It contains glycerin, sodium hyaluronate, caffeine and shea butter and targets puffiness, fine lines and darkness! It cools down my under eyes making them significantly less puffy and also hydrates, reducing my fine lines. Didn’t pill with makeup either! Will repurchase! Full review here!

ESPA 24 Hour Replenishing Eye Moisturiser via Cohorted*

A much thicker formulation than the Vichy so I used this one at night. It felt nicely hydrating and left my undereyes smooth and moisturised. Liked it but probably wouldn’t repurchase.

First Aid Beauty Pure Skin Face Cleanser

Boring but nice is how I would explain this one. It has no scent but feels creamy and cleans and refreshes skin without leaving it feeling dried out perfect for sensitive skins! Would repurchase!

Fenty Skin Total Cleans’r

I used this as a second or morning cleanse and it felt nicely hydrating and didn’t dry my skin out. I have a lot of other cleansers I need to get through and ones I prefer over this so not a repurchase for me!

Fenty Beauty Hydra Vizor

I was surprised how long this little bottle lasted and honestly by how much I enjoyed it! It’s SPF 30 so perfect for me this winter and it left my skin feeling hydrated and smooth. I actually picked up a full size of this before I left for Canada as I spotted it at TK Maxx and I am glad I did! Would repurchase!

Tatcha The Rice Wash

This has a slightly grainy texture so gently exfoliates and doesn’t feel stripping. I am not a huge fan of the scent though so it’s not a repurchase for me!

Sunday Riley C.E.O. 15% Vitamin C Brightening Serum

Too small a sample to say if it did much brightening but this was a lovely lightweight formula that sank in quickly and didn’t pill with other products. The price tag is eye watering so not a repurchase for me!

Dr Lipp Miracle balm

Loved this and gutted it’s finished! This was my night time lip treatment and it kept them hydrated overnight and this little tube lasted forever. Lanolin Is one of my favourite lip care ingredients and I would repurchase this again!

Laneige Lip Glowy Balm in Berry

Another love! This felt very hydrating on my lips and I didn’t need to reapply throughout the day too often. It had a lovely subtle scent and a really subtle pink hint of colour to the lips too! Will repurchase when I finish up a few more lip products!

Makeup

Revlon Colourstay for Combination/Oily Skin in 150 Buff

My favourite budget foundation. This has good coverage and lasting power, and I am already using my backup and have two more bottles in my stash as it’s my day to day work foundation!

Maybelline The Falsies Volum Express Waterproof Mascara

Been through so many tubes of this and love it! Gives good volume and separation with no flaking. I have watery eyes so even waterproof mascara leave a small smudge under one of my eyes by the end of the day but with this it’s very minimal so I will forgive it! Will repurchase!

daniellesbeautyblog miscellaneous empties

Miscellaneous

Purely Inspired Collagen Peptides

This is dissolving better for me now when I leave it for a few minutes in water and my joints always feel much better when I take collagen. I hope it works for my skin too but I don’t notice much difference with that! Have already repurchased.

Briogeo B. Well Vegan Omega 3, 6, 9 + Biotin supplements *

Enjoyed these but more expensive than my normal vitamins (I just take cod liver oil, Vitamin B etc) so not a repurchase for me!

So that's it for this batch! Did you see any of your favourites or products you would like to try? Sorry about the horrendous photo quality too, my lighting was already bad then the site I use to edit has become paid :( if you have a good free editing site alternative please let me know!

Product Empties #7

product empties reviews haircare bodycare skincare makeup soap and glory nivea loreal

Hi everyone, today I’m back with another empties post and hopefully a shorter one than my usual essays when I do these posts!

bodycare empties reviews nivea soap and glory balance me sai-sei

Body Care
Nivea Creme Care Shower Cream
I picked this up on offer in Boots for £1 a while back and really enjoyed using it and changing it up from my usual choice of Soap and Glory! It featured in this post and is a lovely creamy shower cream that lathered up well and didn’t dry out my skin. Would buy again!

Soap and Glory Butter Yourself Moisture Lotion
First off I hate the packaging of this! The pump is missing from mine as after using about a quarter of the product inside it becomes useless and isn’t able to pump anymore. I think because the cream is so thick it just stops working but I either have to squeeze this into an empty tub or leave it sitting upside down so the product moves closer to the opening! It’s not my favourite Soap and Glory scent but it is a lovely moisturiser when you can get it out! I have a few of these to use up from sets I’ve got but it’s not my first choice when purchasing a moisturiser!

Balance Me Super Toning Body Polish
I hated the smell of this and I didn’t think it was a great exfoliator as it didn’t lather up well. I think I received this in a beauty box last year but I wouldn’t repurchase!

Sai-Sei Mineral Invigorate Body Scrub
I probably shouldn’t even have bothered including this as the sample was so small but I think I got this free with an order! The sample did about one scrub but it smelt lovely and refreshing however I wouldn’t repurchase as the full size is £28 and there are other much cheaper exfoliators I prefer!

skincare empties reviews nivea pixi glow tonic first aid beauty balance me

Skincare
Pixi Glow Tonic
I love this stuff! It featured in this post but in a nutshell it tones, smoothes and refines my acne prone skin and helps with my scarring!  This bottle has lasted me ages as I only use a tiny bit and I usually only use this either morning or night. I already have a backup of this and can see myself repurchasing it again and again!

Nivea Lotion
This has featured a few times in my empties posts and this post as it is a constant repurchase of mine! I love to use this as my first cleanse as it’s so gentle and really effective at removing a lot of my makeup!

First Aid Beauty Face Cleanser
This wasn’t what I was expecting to begin with and I didn’t like it at first but I didn't mind it once I got used to it! It’s described as an airy cream on the back of the packaging and I would agree with this as its quite creamy and light. I used it as a second cleanse and then wiped off with a muslin cloth and it did a good job at removing the last traces of my makeup but I have other balm cleansers I prefer so won't be repurchasing.

Balance Me Cleanse and Smooth Face Balm
This is a cleanser with oatmeal particles and I found for everyday use, this was a little too much for my skin. I did feel like I got a good exfoliation using this, especially round my nose but again I have other face exfoliators I own that I prefer so I won’t be repurchasing!

haircare empties reviews loreal garnier ultimate blends

Hair Care
L’Oreal Ever Strong Conditioner
I love this! It made my hair so soft, the bottle lasted ages and the scent is really minty and fresh! I will definitely repurchase this soon as I have a full bottle of the shampoo and its one of the best conditioners I've ever ueed!

Garnier Ultimate Blends 1 Minute Treatment
I really liked this, again it made my hair feel soft and I like that it's a quick one minute treatment although I sometimes just used it as a conditioner. I did a full post on the Garnier Ultimate Blends range here and this product along with the serum are definitely my favourites. The smell isn’t too overpowering and it’s on offer a lot so I will probably repurchase at some point in the future!

makeup empties reviews rimmel soap and glory no7 powder maybelline lash sensational mascara

Makeup
Rimmel Lasting Finish 25Hour Powder Foundation
I seemed to have run out of all my powders at once starting with this one! This was a powder I was impressed with for lasting power although I didn’t test it out for the full 25 hours! The only powder I ever hear raved about from Rimmel is their Stay Matte powder and I did go through a few of these back in the day but I hated it! I can’t even remember why but I would not pick it up again so when I saw this come out I was excited to give it a go! It lasted well and controlled my oil and I will probably repurchase in the future again!

Soap and Glory One Heck of a Blot Powder
This used to be one of my favourites but I found towards the start of December it wasn’t working as well for me and I would have to touch up at lunchtime. I think this works best for me when it’s spring and autumn as opposed to winter and summer or the extremes of the seasons if that makes sense! I have already repurchased because it’s a lovely lightweight powder that doesn’t look cakey but will wait a while before using!

No7 Perfect Light Pressed Powder
This is my favourite powder and one I don’t have to touch up at all through the day! I raved about it in this post and in a nutshell, if you have oily skin you need to try this!

Maybelline Lash Sensational Waterproof Mascara
This was probably the most hyped mascara of 2015! I jumped on the bandwagon as Maybelline do some of my favourite mascaras including Colossal and Falsies but this did not knock them off their pedestal! While it did give me length and volume I hated how messy the opening/lid became and it was a little more clumpy than I like! Still a good mascara but I have others I prefer so probably won’t repurchase!

So that’s rounds up another empties! Thanks for reading! I’d love to know if you’ve tried any of the products I’ve mentioned and what you thought!

P.S. Off topic but if I still have your attention and you’re any good at the technical blog stuff maybe you’d be able to help me! Any idea why my LinkWithin widget isn’t working at the bottom of my blog posts for related content? I reinstalled after getting my new blog template in December and its in my layout but doesn't show up anything on my blog! Any input would be much appreciated J

How to get rid of those Annoying Arm Bumps

Get rid of bumps on the back of arms exfoliation and moisturising

Arm bumps or keratosis pilaris to give it its proper name is a harmless condition that results in rough, almost permanent like goose bumps on the back of some people’s arms. Excess keratin builds up blocking the hair follicles resulting in the white bumps on the back of the arms and this article explains it a whole lot better than I can if you want more information!

There are a few things I do to minimise the appearance of my own “arm bumps” which is important for me especially in the summer when I’m wearing t-shirts and sleeveless tops. This is just what I’ve found that works for me as I don’t particularly like the look or feel of them on myself and if any of you are bothered by the same condition it might help you too :)

When I’m in the shower I’ll make sure to exfoliate using exfoliating gloves like the ones pictured (which are £1 from Poundland) and a good exfoliator like Soap and Glory’s Pulp Friction. This lathers up really nicely while providing a good exfoliation ensuring my skin is at soft as possible.

After I’m dried off I will moisturise my body as normal then use a thicker cream such as Nivea Soft or First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream to rub in a splodge (technical term there) quite vigorously onto the backs of my arms until it’s all dried in. I feel like this action gets the blood moving like dry brushing would but takes a lot less time!

My arms will be a little red afterwards from the rubbing but this soon calms down to leave nice, soft almost bump free arms! (Sadly I don’t think anything gets rid of them completely) I’ll exfoliate about once a week but will rub the thicker cream on my arms about twice a week to keep them as soft as possible and the bumps at bay!

Have you got any tips to get rid of the arm bumps or any products that help you?
